Cover page of the book Rooftoppers with the title and author's babe Katherine Rundell, written mid and top of the cover, with a drawn picture of two children jumping across city roofs at sunrise.
Child dressed as Safi
For #WorldBookDay my kid went as Safi from the Rooftoppers. No-one knew who she was despite the obvious giveaway of the boys' clothes, tape measure belt and red 'blood' smear on her cheek. She felt rebellious not to be an obvious book character.
Done!
Bit late to posting day 4.
It's not always easy to talk about, but yesterday I had a conversation with another parent about wood burning, air pollution, asthma rates, cargo bikes, most journeys under 5km, car clubs, school streets, idling & dangerous driver behaviour... Lots to discuss & worth it!
This sounds like my coffee nightmare. Insufferable. www.stuff.co.nz/nz-news/3609...
Day 3: I delivered these excellent flyers about the pollution emitted by home wood burning to the Milton Road library in Cambridge. It can be surprising to learn how dangerous & harmful a fire burning in a gorgeous, ornate fireplace actually is!
Cough, splutter, wheeze.

Day 2: walking with large items... because you don't need a car to transport framed pictures.
Choosing the right tool for the job.

If you don't know we've moved from Hackney with a slow but full programme of school street implementation to Cambridge where school streets are 'volunteer patrolled' in the few places they exist.
Cambridge schools need ANPR-protected school streets so all kids can safely walk & cycle.

Don't blame parents, blame a health system that has multiple barriers to accessing care, resulting in low vaccination rates.
An excellent thread:
Social media companies aid and abet boys/men to comment and create content that is misogynistic and derogatory towards women.
It should be the moral AND LEGAL duty of SM companies to safeguard a 15yo who opens their app - ensuring she won't view such abuse.

LTNs and all their associated benefits are staying. Brilliant news and well done for a win for Bethnal Green, Tower Hamlets and London.
As for the school streets Mayor Rahman ripped out, they should now be reinstated under that same ruling, as they are part of LIP.
Wonderful news! π
Fantastic news! A well deserved re-election. π
Burns Night poster invitation to the event on 24 January 2026, and QR code for more information.
The @hackneylcc.bsky.social HCC Burns Night is the winter event you need to get through these dark days.

Absolutely. The entitled sitting on top of the cycle box at the lights, the micro aggressive close-follow or close-pass, the aggressive horn beeping and swearing, and super-aggressive progressing at me on my side of the road to bully me out the way on residential streets.
Every. time. I. cycle.
Without a change to decent investment (rather than current stop-start funding) and long-term planning and prioritisation, any efforts towards linking-up towns and cities with active travel routes will fail. And they need to succeed.

Just received a Kryptonite d-lock lock as a freebie with my new @londoncycling.bsky.social membership.
I won't be using the frame mount, does anybody want it?
Looks great, even if it's during set-up!
It's the route my children take to/from school by bike, on a fairly busy road. It's a huge improvement from having to 'take the lane', and it's well used. Anecdotally there are more kids cycling as it's so much safer for them.
Crossing the river needs to be free for active travel, like a pedestrian/cycle bridge would be. Can you confirm this is free travel for cyclists?
I think this is a better image of safe cycle lane infrastructure - the lane should be raised level to the pavement (not at road level as in your photo).

It is so tiresome and unedifying to see sitting Labour councillors continue to attack their own administrationβs traffic reduction measures, when
"We've seen clear evidence that LTNs are delivering real benefits, traffic is down by an average of 38% inside [the zones] and 2% on boundary roadsβ

Its London Mayorβs Questions tomorrow & I understand that Greens on the London Assembly will be asking Sadiq Khan what the delay is with ending fossil fuel advertising on the tube & buses. If you too would like to drop the Mayor a polite email on this topic, please go to www.badverts.org/fossil-ads
Thanks for the heads up.

OMG she speaks my language. By that I mean urban design for people, not German.
Is @camdencouncil.bsky.social now the council with the most #politicalWill aka cojones in all Greater London ? Perhaps with Waltham Forest as a close second ? Here in Islington we used to look up at Hackney and wish we could be more like them; now it's Camden.
Compare Camden's safe cycling junction proposal, with separate cycle track and cycle-only lights, to Hackney's woeful design: a few seconds of advanced lights (for only some arms of the junction) and periodic paint on the road!!
This will NOT keep cyclists safe. π¨
Fully support this! Great to see...
Meanwhile right now in Hackney, our council has spades in the ground to create a few seconds of advanced lights (for only some arms of the junction) and periodic paint on the road as though this is an appropriate way to keep cyclists safe. π¨
