It reminded me of the *why*βwhy I chose this path, why I love itβand the *how*βhow my efforts ripple through the lives of students every day. It wasnβt just humbling; it was grounding. It brought me back to the purpose that so often gets buried under the weight of to-do lists and deadlines.
In the whirlwind of workplace challenges, academic pressures, and the tug-of-war to keep our values aligned with our roles, itβs easy to lose sight of the heart of our work. Re-reading my philosophy was like stepping into a quiet sanctuary amid the chaos.
A student recently reached out, asking to see a copy of my teaching philosophy as they were exploring teaching positions. When I opened it to send, I had an unexpectedly profound moment. It felt like reconnecting with an old friendβa part of myself I hadnβt spoken to in a while.
Of course! Thanks for putting the starter pack together!
Happy to be added, if you feel I'm a good fit!
Yes! We have a handful of people at CSU doing CURES, but Iβm not sure if they are on socials. Happy to share names/contacts if you wanted to connect via email.
As all-in as university curriculum committee let me for most of my courses. Still making small changes a little at a time in my other courses. I think going all-in gives you the opportunity to make a great and well-intentioned course that you can be transparent about with the students.
Hi my name is Sami and I am a new assistant professor at Colorado State University! I mostly teach neurobiology, pharmacology, and physiology with veterinary medicine and undergraduate students. I also research how ungrading and online applications can enhance STEM education. Give me a follow! π
