We gained 2:46:31 of light.
We are less than 25 minutes of a half a day of light.
Spring arrives in 13 days.

Now we're getting sicker year on year.
The difference is Covid.”

It is a hideous scandal that they can publish a chart as obvious as this and not even mention the words 'covid infections'.
Behold: the first-ever list of news outlets that have banned generative AI in their reporting. As of today, this is literally information that you cannot find on Google.
My goal is to fill the starter pack, so please send over suggestions with supporting evidence!

Rising ocean temps blamed for massive die-off of marine life. "Researchers examined the year-to-year change of 33,000 [fish] populations in the northern hemisphere.... They found the drop in biomass from chronic heating to be as high as 19.8% in a single year." www.theguardian.com/environment/...

“Even without hospitalization, many of these infections have long-term consequences, from organ damage and immune issues to increased risks of cancer and dementia. It’s unconscionable that we aren’t doing everything we can to reduce these risks"

The absolute BEST public health comms…if you’re not already following @durhamhealthnc.bsky.social , I strongly recommend doing so. They even post science-backed messaging on FB!! That’s integrity!!
Anyone with long-COVID has so many burdens already: disease, difficulty doing stuff, being disbelieved, and sometimes self-blame. No one wants to add to that. But if you have a bit if capacity, please consider sharing your story with @cancovsoc.bsky.social as below.

Our latest paper shows that most aerosol sampling methods may underestimate infectious virus in air. We observed 100x more infectious flu virus and SARS-CoV-2 if it deposited directly on cells (more realistic) rather than in liquid first and then transferred to cells. pubs.acs.org/doi/full/10....

An excellent letter on preventing respiratory infections montrealgazette.com/opinion/lett...
“This would lock the world into a new and hellish ‘hothouse Earth’ climate far worse than the 2-3C temperature rise the world is on track to reach. The climate would also be very different to the benign conditions of the past 11,000 years, during which the whole of human civilisation developed.”
But of course it is!
The fact that this is up for debate is the real head-scratcher here.

Enough can’t be said about how “machine-learning” simply reiterates the anti-blackness of tech bros and their ilk. And that includes the violence of disregard: “oh, we didn’t anticipate that as a possible problem.” That’s racist too.

Square graphic with a dark blue/gray background. Top left reads “whn.global”; top right reads “Clean Air.” Large tilted green banner headline: “Ventilation” isn’t just opening a window. Below, a CO₂ monitor screen shows 811 CO2 ppm with status Normal, time 13:54, and POA 84. Other readings on the screen: 36 (Noise, dB), 44.1 (RH, %), 3 (PM2.5, µg/m³), 24.0 (Temp, °C), 3 (PM10, µg/m³), 93 (eTVOC, VOC Index). Bottom text says: “Although that helps, real ventilation is about airflow: how much clean air moves through a space. More clean air means a safer space. CO₂ monitors show if fresh air is flowing — or if it’s time to do more.” Footer: “World Health Network - Science for a safer, healthier world.”
Ventilation plays an important role in preventing airborne infections. Opening a window helps, but real ventilation is about consistent airflow. CO₂ monitors can give a simple signal of how much shared air is building up indoors.
