One of my early mentors in the Foreign Service never graduated from high school. Despite that, he passed the entrance exam at a time with less than 2% of applicants did. He was a veteran, and self-taught in history, mathematics, philosophy, and languages.
In other words, he was NOTHING like MWM.
In Congressional hearing, Pam Bondi told members of Congress that they should not question Trump about his Epstein ties because the DOW was above 50,000.
It is far below that now. So, will she now agree to answer honest, pertinent questions about Trump's involvement in a child sex trafficking ring?
Here's my prediction: He will alternate between being combative and lying through his teeth. The GOP majority will confirm him anyway.
Refund with interest would fit the norm in cases of unlawful retention of funds.
Much worse than the usual oil grab. This one includes stupidity, complete disregard for the welfare of Americans, and an underlying impetus to do absolutely anything to distract from Trump's role in Epstein's child sexual abuse empire.
Yes, I remember that one, and many others.
I never said that Trump and Hegseth were the only ones who chose to ignore the safety of civilians.
As many have noted, Trump's war in Iran means that Bush's war in Iraq is no longer the stupidest foreign policy move in US history.
Maybe my subconscious decided it was safer to dream about the suit than about my own possible death.
In all of my "ruined suit and late for meeting" dreams, I did not die. I was just supremely pissed off.
OK, that is a bizarre dream. As a shrink told me (once I could hear again), however, our subconscious latches onto bits of reality in our nightmares.
I really did have a very nice suit ruined at the same time I was pummeled and almost killed by an Iranian missile. I dreamt about the suit.
Here's a somewhat embarrassing confession, but what can I say except I was a diplomat.
I had repeated dreams about hurrying to jump into a motorcade to attend some high-level meeting wearing one of my best suits, only to the suit ruined by shrapnel when a missile struck nearby.
I know many wonderful, brave Americans who do not fit into those categories. What sets MWM apart is that he presumes to lecture all Americans on what war is really like. His overweening hubris and his penchant for stealing valor by implying that the did what he never did is what makes him so bad.
Gasoline prices are determined by what economists refer to as oligopoly pricing, under which a small number of major players dominate a market and can therefore exert enough price pressure to ensure that every price fluctuation benefits them.
It was Johnson's conviction that triggered my post. Johnson was under investigation for multiple crimes before Jan 6. Trump's pardon closed all of the federal investigations against him, essentially forgiving in advance his sex crimes against kids.
Prosecutors had to wait for him to rape more kids.
Great idea, but the Constitution was not written that specifically.
It is very safe bet that none of the authors of the Constitution ever dreamed that someone as corrupt as Trump would ever yield the power.
You are correct. It pardoned only federal crimes. At least three dozen Jan 6 insurrectionists were under investigation on federal crimes ranging from sexual assault to murder to fraud. All of their investigations were cut off by the blanket pardon. Many went on to new crimes.
In my experience with PTSD, I don't recall "the smell of war." I recall endless dreams in which I relived being tossed through the air like a ragdoll by a missile strike. I recall dreams about the months of profuse, unexplained bleeding.
I guess I may have dreamt about the smell of my own blood.
Joshua Jones sums up what I've been thinking about Mullin and his absurd comments about "the smell of war" and other such nonsense.
He has never served in any war zone. He has never been on the receiving end of enemy fire or missile attacks. He has never sacrificed anything for anyone.
Sad fact: when crude prices spike (as they are doing now due to Trump's insane war), the price of gasoline at the pump rises almost instantly even though that gas was produced with cheaper crude bought months ago.
When crude prices fall, gas prices will stay high until the cheaper oil is refined.
Trump denies aid to Ukraine and openly sides with Putin.
Now Trump wants Ukraine's help.
The Ukrainians, being decent people, will almost certainly provide the requested help, but that does NOT excuse Trump's duplicity.
It likely comes down to Hegesth's decision (which he brags about repeatedly) not to issue any rules of engagement as well as his decision to disband the Pentagon office charged with minimizing civilian casualties.
In the past, a targeting review would have flagged the danger to kids; not today.
Trump is ordering US taxpayers to subsidize the insurance of foreign oil carriers.
America first?
Trump and Hegseth are so ill-informed and ignorant of history that they are very likely to order US warships to literally escort, as in lead, tankers through the Strait of Hormuz. If they do, US sailors will needlessly die.
The entire Trump Administration is one giant SNAFU wrapped around a collection of FUBARs.
These are new crimes by repeat offenders. A man recently sentenced to life in prison for raping children was under investigation prior to Jan 6, but the investigation had to be closed due to Trump's pardon. So, he went back out to rape more children. Others have robbed, assaulted, and even killed.
The incredibly broad wording of Trump's pardon of January 6 insurrectionists mean that they were pardoned of ALL crimes, not just those committed on Jan 6. Dozens have now gone on to commit new crimes, including child sexual assault, rape, breaking and entering, and vehicular homicide.

When Trump first announced his disastrous "liberation day" tariffs, I posted that they would lead the USA back into the notorious 'stagflation' of the 1970's, a period when a combination of persistent high inflation AND persistent unemployment prevailed.
That's where we are headed.
In other words, Trump is offering foreign billionaire shipping magnates US taxpayer-subsidized insurance rates.
So much for "America first."
Trump wastes yet more US taxpayer dollars to insure ships owned by other countries that are threatened by his pointless war of choice in the Middle East.
"Some believe the Trump administration is sacrificing technical expertise in the name of ideology..."?
That's like saying "some believe in reality."
Hegseth is destroying operational readiness and undermining long-term defense capabilities by focusing on culture wars rather than defense needs.
The Stasi never had mass surveillance tools like Palantir's face recognition software. DHS is recording the faces of anyone who opposes Trump's policies or DHS's cruelty and adding them to a database. People have already been kicked off trusted flyer lists for peaceful protest.
True, but in reality there are.
Most ports around the world no longer accept them. They were banned in 1990 with a grace period until 2015 to allow existing ships to serve out their useful lives.
Much of Russia's "shadow fleet," however, consists of old single-hulled tankers.
