Bluesky is the new science Twitter, new study by @whysharksmatter.bsky.social and Julia Wester concludes!
"Results show that for every reported professional benefit that scientists once gained from Twitter, scientists can now gain that benefit more effectively on Bluesky than on Twitter."

Fantastic work. Also impressive scope by Stiftung Edith Maryon.
βThereβs no single answer that will solve all our future problems. Thereβs no magic bullet. Instead there are thousands of answersβat least. You can be one of them if you choose to be.β

A bird's-eye view of a former Auschwitz II-Birkenau camp showing a wide dirt pathway flanked by parallel rows of barbed-wire fences. Groups of visitors walk along the path, surrounded by the remnants of brick structures and barracks, now reduced to foundations. Green grass contrasts with the somber history of the site, as the path leads toward a guard tower in the distance.
Auschwitz was at the end of a process. We must remember that it did not start from gas chambers.
This hatred gradually developed: from ideas, words, stereotypes & prejudice through legal exclusion, dehumanization & escalating violence... to systematic and industrial murder.
Auschwitz took time.
We can either invest into natureβs destruction or power its recovery.
The new @unep.org State of Finance for Nature report shows that for every $1 the world invests in protecting nature, it spends $30 destroying it.

We keep a tally in our section of 50+ people of published papers in the last month and one author gives a short account of the contents of the published paper. But no bubbles or cake for this. We publish 60-70 papers a year.
I think there are many levels of celebrating. Starting with just a glass of wine to round of a day where you have accomplished one of the items on your list, to getting the whole research group or larger units together, applauding and giving cheers in meetings.
All of the above
Congratulations!
A coordinated release of global climate data in the face of political attacks on science allows the measurements to speak for themselves and define the reality of a rapidly warming planet.

May 2026 be the year fossil fuels finally go into terminal decline, and we start to heal the climate rather than destroy it.
Happy new orbit!

Dear Mother Earth,
Thank you for the countless gifts you share with us every day, year after year: clean air, fresh water, abundant life, and endless beauty.
Let us honor your generosity by protecting and restoring what sustains us all.
Always with care,

Putin wants a weak and divided Europe.
Now Trump has joined him.
Their weapon: social media.
Pro-European voices are silenced.
Far-right extremists are boosted.
Europe has a weapon too, the Digital Services Act.
So why arenβt you using it, dear European Commission?
A resilient planet depends on Indigenous leadership.
At the #UNEA7 Special Dialogue on Indigenous Peoples, we reaffirmed that Indigenous knowledge systems, sciences, and practices are vital to the planetβs survival - and @unep.org will not stop listening, learning and championing Indigenous rights.
Indigeneous knowledge systems for regeneration of fertile landscapes. Beautiful!
