USAID is not the criminal organization it is being depicted as. All I see is the richest man in the world trying to take basic things away from some of the poorest people in the world. I weep for the USA.
I joined the project at the very beginning before any huts were built. My role was to conduct some surveys in the local language and attend village meetings in the Nioro du Rip Department to introduce the project’s goal.
Each hut was to be stocked with aspirin and medicines for malaria, intestinal worms and scabies. There was also to be bandages, gauze, and antibiotic ointment. In time the hut was to become self-sustaining.
