Man, First Cow really fucking holds up. Down to just Showing Up (one I havent seen) in my Reichardt watch/rewatch (and unless I can track down decent copies of her post-River of Grass/pre-Old Joy shorts).

Inspired by The Mastermind, I’m doing a Kelly Reichardt watch/rewatch. Watched River of Grass for the first time last night, and rewatched Old Joy for the first time in just under 20 years tonight. Rewatched Wendy and Lucy last week. Reichardt is one of the best there is. That’s all.

Ate sushi a few seats down from Aaron Paul at Sugarfish in Hollywood. Same trip, stopped to look at some puppies for adoption and scared Molly Shannon off because I kept looking over at her thinking “is that Molly Shannon?” When she quickly left I knew I was right. Felt like an asshole.
Cranston is in incredible in those two.

Now I’m starting @ambersparks.bsky.social debut novel. Love her collections, and well, just started reading this today, and am 60 pages in and don’t want to stop. I’m completely enamored with the world and characters, the off-beat humor, and wonderful sadness running through it.
Amazing—we don’t have a single overlap. I’ll try to figure out mine soon and share.
Man oh man, this new one by Brandon Hobson is fantastic. Really special book, so full of wonder and anguish. Maybe my favorite of his yet?
It’s not even close to the worst song by McCartney.
Really enjoying it so far. Still not sure what the show is, or is going to be, and that’s part of the fun for now. But there’s a lot I like about it so far.
(For the record: I think Breaking Bad is very overrated, and Better Call Saul is still a little underrated.)

Flew to NYC to see Patti Smith play Horses. Incredible show. Top 5 all-time concert experience, practically holy.
