We've got two exciting chromatin talks coming up on Wednesday next week:

IT'S HAPPENING! π₯ I'm psyched to launch the collaboration between @qedscience.bsky.social & @openrxiv.bsky.social @biorxivpreprint.bsky.social! Preprint + q.e.d = your science is out there, and anyone can appreciate it. Let's care about making discoveries, and not on βgetting publishedβ (1/3) π

Yes I did try that! It did not find the same gaps again (I guess we successfully addressed them), but did find new ones - maybe similar to some human reviewers. So some human judgment about the centrality of the gaps is still important.
#QEDscience has been great! Weβve used it for a few manuscripts and it helped us really improve them before submission. Definitely recommend!
π‘ Cancer cells donβt just mutateβthey reorganize their DNA in 3D space.
Our new study shows how the genomeβs folding pattern shifts as tumors progress, cell by cell π§©π§¬.
Itβs the first 3D genome atlas of cancer progression.

thank you Oded!
thanks! And totally agree - let's talk soon!
thank you!
This was also an exciting paper for us because we got to pre-review it even before submission with q.e.dβs AI qedscience.com. really helpful and improved a lot!
New paper on the role of H3K4me3 at enhancers! We (led by Haoming Yu) used dCas9 epigenome editing to add H3K4me3 to intergenic enhancers. This was (1) sufficient to turn up transcription at open, active regions and (2) has no effect on target gene transcription. genesdev.cshlp.org/content/earl...
And please also check out this excellent complementary study from @namekawasatoshi.bsky.social. Using a slightly earlier KO model, they find that Smarca5 is also required in spermatogonia to prepare retinoic acid receptor binding sites: www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...
Yes definitely! We looked at density very superficially (ATAC). Will be interesting to look more closely
Agreed, truly a team effort - but a huge amount of credit to @kataruka.bsky.social for her leadership. Smarca5 is important for chromatin remodeling in DNA damage repair during male meiosis (among other things!)
It seems that only the science community is noticing that NIH and NSF budgets are cut 40% and 55% in the budget bill, respectively. If you live in Maine, West Va, Pennsylvania, Alabama, or Louisiana, CALL YOUR SENATOR as they could make a difference. See below.

I am heartbroken about the loss of many labs at the Weizmann Institute yesterday in the missile attack. Dear scientists there: please know that you are not alone. Like many many others, I support you and am standing by to help you in any way I can.

Happy to be here!
Starting fresh! With the best kind of post: congrats to (social media-free) grad student Kira Marshall on an awesome paper comparing opossum and placental mammal transcriptomes: www.cell.com/developmenta...
