Nice job!
Three circular sketches in black ink, one for each full moon in Jan, Feb., and March. Somehow clouds and trees, with Feb showing Jupiter.
Something simpler. I have created a set of 3β round cutouts so that I can sketch each full moon this year. These are the first three. I make notes on the back about time of day, weather, etc. It is a quick way to do some nature journaling over time. π¨π‘π #naturejournal #fullmoons2026
Triangular and curving shapes and spirals in black ink with colorful gel pen accents.
This is a 3x4β piece of Bristol smooth paper. I played around with some shapes and new gel pens. π¨ #intuitivedrawing #intuitivedoodle #gelpens
Ink drawing showing colorful balancing upper left, moss-like shapes in upper right, sun in center and perspective wall on bottom with some star shapes.
A larger format this time, about 10x10β. It was a slow build of shapes and ideas, but still being led by intuition. It is meditative, in a way, to let it emerge. What does the final image feel like to you? π¨#intuitivedrawing #ohuhumarkers
Botanical study page of pencil sketches and colored pencil study. Bearded iris blossom in several views.
Bearded iris seed pod, after blossom, still on plant with papery cover. Graphite study.
Bearded iris seed pod as it dries out. Graphite study.
Thinking ahead to warmer weather. This is a rough study of a beautiful, purple-bearded iris blossom from our yard last summer and one of its seed pods as it matures (from June through Aug.) π¨π‘π± #beardediris #botanicalart #botanicalstudy
Oh wow! Thank you. That is a beautiful compliment! I really like how this turned out. It could be a landform, or a person in a cloak, or what you saw!
3x3 hot press watercolor paper with hexagon shape and black walnut ink shape. Back and white pen work in background.
This was one of the black walnut ink backgrounds. Added gold gel pen outlines and then the black ink lines in the white space. Looked really messy, so I rotated and voila! I suddenly liked the movement in the line work. Looked like night-sky so I added white gel pen to finish. π¨ #intuitivedoodling
3x3 square of hot press watercolor paper with circle and yellow and green background. Pen and ink swirls and topographic shapes.
Added to the green and yellow background tonight! Just a lot of random mark-making π, but always fun. π¨#intuitivedoodling #watercolorbackground #penandink
Round, 3β brown Kraft paper with a swirling design in brown, black and white pen.
As we are in the traditional pysanky (Ukrainian Easter eggs) time, my mind went to ancient Trypillian designs, which are brown, white and black. The kraft paper really goes well here. π¨#trypilliandesign #gelpen #penandink
4x3β Bristol smooth paper with pen drawing of an opening azalea bud in deep purple and pink.
Tonightβs play was more botanical. I had sketched an azalea bud from a photo last spring and added color with my markers. Didnβt quite have the light gray/green of the leaves, but pretty close. The real star is the deep pink/purple of the flowers. π¨π‘π± #azaleabud #botanicalart #markers
3x3 white cardstock with triangular shapes, rounded outlines and bright color scheme in marker.
Played with some markers on the white cardstock squares. I liked the brightness with the heavy black lines. π¨#intuitivedoodle #cardstock
3x3 hot press watercolor square with hexagon painted in purples and blues. Silver and white gel pen galaxy swirls and brick-like ink at bottom.
Thought I had ruined this background with an obvious blue βcβ shape, but it developed into a really cool galaxy! I used silver and white gel pen along with black ink. π¨#intuitivedrawing #nopressure #penandink #galaxy #watercolor
3β circle of Kraft cardstock with topographic-like linework in black, white and gold.
One other that I finished up this weekend. Slightly different on a circle of Kraft cardstock. Again, some white and gold gel pen along with black linework. I apparently and drawn to map-like shapes at the moment! π¨ #intuitivedoodle #kraftcardstock #penandink
3x3 hot press watercolor paper with hexagonal shape. Background painted in yellow and sparkling blue with black and white line work on top.
Next in the intuitive doodle series! As usual, the paint guides my line work. I enjoyed using some white gel pen as well as regular black ink. This one did take on a map-like look. π¨ #intuitivedoodle #penandink #watercolor
Six, 3x3 squares of cardstock with various circular and wavy shapes in multiple colors.
Playing with the markers again! π¨ #markers #intuitivedoodling
Small, potted, trained willow tree.
Catkin with yellow tint.
Catkin with yellow threads of blossom.
Catkin with yellow threads of blossom from behind.
Check it out! My willow tree is blossoming! I had no idea that this is what they look like as I have only seen cut branches with the silver catkins in late winter. Beautiful, yellow flowers are coming out of the catkins now. I am in spring mode for sure!π± #willowtree #pussywillowblossom #catkins
Thank you!
Oh thanks! Yes, always looking for those fuzzy buds!
Graphite drawing of magnolia buds and branch.
Graphite sketch of a star magnolia blossom.
In looking for some larger paper for intuitive doodling, I found a couple of sweet botanical studies. Magnolia buds and a star magnolia blossom. Looking forward to spring! π±π¨π‘ #graphitestudies #botanicalart #magnoliabranch #starmagnoliablossom
Dried succulent with woody texture.
3x3 square with black walnut ink washing a circle. Vertical ink lines on top with added color in browns and yellows.
This dried piece of succulent has a really neat texture of lines and cavities and inspired this doodle. A base of black walnut ink wash, added black ink along with some added color from alcohol markers and voila! π¨π± #intuitivedoodle #blackwalnutink
A view of the mica blue watercolor circle with continent-like shapes outlined in white and silver gel pens.
A second view showing the shimmer of the paint and gel pens.
I did something a little different with this one. I used white and silver gel pens to add some doodles on top of the mica watercolor paint in this circle. A rather wintery, but bright feel. π¨ βοΈ #intuitivedoodle #silverpen #whitepen
Two circular and two hexagonal shapes on watercolor paper painted with black walnut ink washes in a sepia brown tone.
Ah! I remembered that I have black walnut ink I made last fall, so I painted a few more of my doodle backgrounds. I really like the one that I partially painted with water and then added ink to. I tilted it to let the pigment flow and let it dry. π¨ #blackwalnutink
Graphite drawing of a large sycamore leaf. Mostly outlined, but with some veins and holes.
Slowly tidying up my studio and finding some fun things! Most of you are aware of my *slight* leaf obsessionβ¦this is a drawing of one of the largest sycamore leaves I found and pressed a couple of years ago. This is actual size and approx 14βx14β! π¨π‘π± #sycamoreleaves #botanicalart #leafdrawing
Bright sun in a blue sky with snow and trees.
What a gorgeous, sunny day! Cold (maybe 18), but so pretty. βοΈ #wintersun #coldbutsunny
Go for it! I am a big believer in just experimenting and seeing where that takes you, especially with a new-to-you medium. I would love to see some of your experiments if you want to post!
Thank you! These are some artist tiles I found in my stuff. They are 300 gsm card stock. I used Ohuhu alcohol markers for the color.
3x3 square of hot-press watercolor paper with a green and yellow circle overlaid with black ink patterns and some bronze stippling.
Started on the painted shapes this weekend, too! Picked green since I am longing for spring π I really liked how the paint created these tree-like shapes, but they also make me think of continents. π¨ #watercolor #ink #intuitivedrawing
Three 3-inch cards with colorful, wavy designs and overlaid ink patterns in white, black, gold and silver.
A colorful set from last nightβs creative play. I wanted to use markers for color, something I donβt do often. I very fun! I completed each one individually, but found they almost work together as panels. Neat! π¨ #markers #ink #drawing #intuitivedrawing
I love this! And love your series. Will need to follow more closely!
