A newborn lamb stands slightly unsteady on green grass, its small body still fluffy with tight, cream-coloured curls. The lamb has delicate black markings on its nose and around one eye, with dark patches on its lower legs and hooves. One ear glows pink in the light, showing the thinness of the skin. The lamb’s expression is calm and curious as it steadies itself in the spring pasture. 🐑🌱

Good morning. Last couple of days helping my brother. Then the worst of the rush will be over. Not had much sleep. 😴 Some people wanted to see a little cutie so here goes. I’ll be posting BOTD after. #Spring #lamb #photography #ECK

After the rain, a single perfect sphere of water rests on the tip of a small Sedum acre — common stonecrop. In this extreme close-up, the unassuming ground cover reveals a hidden world of jewel-like beauty. The fleshy, scale-like leaves radiate an electric yellow-green, deepening to dark emerald in shadow and warming to golden chartreuse at the tips. The large central droplet sits in perfect balance like a polished lens, capturing the entire scene and reflecting it back — miniaturised, inverted, and glowing. Around it, dozens of smaller drops cling to the stems, each a tiny sphere of frozen light tinted green by the plant beneath. The waxy cuticle of Sedum causes water to bead rather than absorb, holding every droplet in near-perfect spherical form — a raindrop carrying an entire world within itself.

In contrast to the simplicity of the last post, here is a photograph taken yesterday using a macro settting. Labouring in the garden for my folks, I took a quick five mins to whizz round snapping the spring garden delights. Saw this lichen clinging in clumps to the structural skeleton of an azalea. Image shows various smooth, mid-brown winter branches of an established azalea across the frame. In contrast, clinging to that in clumps is frilly, silvery lichen. Behind/below this, blurred, is a border with various plants and a short length lawn. A busy image, almost too much to take in, but I like it. Bit like spring, there's al lot going on so the eye doesn't quite know what to look at first!

Image shows the Grand Union Canal at Birdingbury Wharf as viewed from the A426 bridge over the canal. The canal has a gentle curve to the right and disappears out of view behind some canal side scrub. It was a slightly misty morning and both the sky and the canal were orange/yellow in colour. An orange un is visible behind some bare tree branches on the left hand side of the canal. The water is still apart from a few ripples towards the bottom left corner of the image that slightly distort the reflected tree branches in this part of the image.
