Ahh, I remember the Pen & Wig from my student days (we went in there once as Freshers, saw all our new lecturers, and ran away in terror while I'm pretty sure they laughed at us ๐)

Just another #Higdon30 but my HR is higher than it feels i.e. didn't feel like I was in aerobic range. That's probably good? Legs are heavy. I've been doing more gym and less running than intended this spring - I figure all exercise is good.
Been falling out of love with tracking data, but found out today my watch does some funky displays (stock photo since I'm weird about my face on the internet). Sunny evenings work for me, and I've started carpooling so I have to leave work on time ๐ฏ Playlist of shame went goth today ๐ #RunningPunks
Dispensed with the humongous work projects earlier this week, and enjoying having some warm, light sunny evenings ๐คฉ still getting headaches, prob stress / blood pressure (?) so taking it easy with slow run / walks for a bit plus gym.

I can and will cock up even "easy" recipes - even diet and fitness ones - which invariably contain ingredients you need to buy in huge bags and then go mouldy. And they take ages, and use five pans... Delia understands we need a jacket potato with 1 dirty bowl maximum ๐ฏ
I've been on eleventy-billion diets that require poached eggs, and only ever obtained vinegar-flavoured mush - but no more! My shoppqing this week was basically half price, and that includes fancy mushrooms for the crazy omelette in baking ๐๐ป
A copy of "Delia's How to Cook: book one."
Anyone remember when #DeliaSmith made that cookery course that started with boiling and egg? And, filled with the hubris of youth, we laughed and thought it was really patronising and a bit posh. Clearly an engineering degree and a copy of Grub on a Grant are all you need. Well, I'm sorry Delia ๐ซฃ
So #BringBackDelia - we need volume 3 with some guidance on gluten-free pasta now that I've messed up my system ๐ Maybe some kind of basic training before I go to #uncleroger about the Nasi Goreng addiction I developed in Malaysia...
She was absolutely right about everything, and 20+ years before her time. Because I can't cook. I'm here with my expanding waistline, graveyard of incinerated pans, protein powders, and airfryer of lies. I found that book in the charity bit of Tesco and it's bloody brilliant!
Getting fit enough to enjoy kickboxing instead of just being really bad at everything ๐ฅ Some voice in my head wants to convince me I'm old, but I figure you can still get fitter. Awesome session tonight, and I've signed up for a weekend workshop.
I like that. I still get a bit hung up on plans and targets, even though literally no-one would know ๐คฆ๐ปโโ๏ธ Constantly arguing with my own brain, which seems to want to undermine me and give up all the time! You would think it would realise it likes dopamine by now ๐
That's a high bar ๐ฏ I hoped someone would reply this, because I have questions!
So, I've always been told to sleep more and make sure you get rest, etc. Do you go to bed earlier, or do you just adjust and not need as much sleep? ๐ค
Because I REALLY like this idea but I am not a morning person! ๐คฃ
I'm gonna file that under "maraude around in lycra" because my priorities also include not getting in trouble ๐คฃ
Dammit, got busy and got home too late to reasonably exercise. How do you guys manage this scenario? #running #runningpunks
Get up super early
Go running late & don't worry about it messing with sleep
Somehow run & shower in lunchtime
Maraude around work in lycra until people ask you to go away
Loving this discussion! I went running with an ex-military guy at one point - I can't remember anything he said, but he somehow got me to run so that it didn't hurt. It was along the lines of running quiet (with less jiggling).
Also, don't be scared of minimalist shoes.
Anyway, I get to keep my meds for now. And I'm hitting the protein shakes this week while I'm well enough to manage it, so that BMI can stop dictating my treatment
I rocked up in my gym gear on foot to make the point ๐ and had a decent session afterwards to calm myself down. 3/
Anyway, the nurse was largely sympathetic and not keen on BMI either. My high blood pressure was fine: she thinks I need new batteries in my monitor ๐คฆ๐ปโโ๏ธ I got a bit of BS about how I should try eating vegetables (the cheek!) but I had a surprising amount of medical paper bits on obesity memorised ๐ฏ 2/
Survived the medication review - turns out they don't normally ask people to come in and get weighed, and the nurse was baffled. I'm guessing doc still doesn't believe my heart rate or that I exercise (he previously referred me to seated aerobics, to gain the self-confidence to leave the house ๐คฌ) 1/
Whaaaaaat?! I know Butte! They have Cornish people who [hear me out] THEY PUT CHEESE ON PASTIES!!! And they have Eucre! Apparently quite a bit of America does. Yeah, I wanna visit Butte!
Managed a workout before work today - I am NOT a morning person, but the gym is rammed in the evenings and I need to pick up the pace ๐ฅ greatly helped by not starting work until afternoon ๐คฆ๐ปโโ๏ธ
Also weighed in on the impedance-measuring scales ahead of seeing the nurse. Did not make me feel better!
I always read Aeon Flux as an older woman (that's the sinewy body of a woman with declining estrogen and some serious years of training under her belt). I'm kinda looking forward to looking like that - any youthful softness is already going ๐ฅ
FFS the cough came back! ๐ซ Skipped kickboxing ๐
Still anxious about the medication review. I was a big girl and booked the ruddy thing ๐ They want me to come in and jabber madly at the nurse ๐คฆ๐ปโโ๏ธ
You know how you used to get a sticker and a lollipop for being brave and doing this stuff when you're a kid..? I'm gonna need a sticker ๐ฏ
N.b. Trying out my Mii band for tracking runs, rather than digging out my old Garmin. I used it to track steps, heat rate, etc. when I was ill a few years back, and now just wear it everyday as a sanity check. Wondering how it'll stack up ๐ค
Going to the dojo shortly. We tend to work on technique, so I felt like I needed cardio.
~2 miles in 25mins - not great, but better than I thought considering I haven't run since lockdown (just gym and kickboxing). I'm loving the #HalHigdon approach - I got in the zone and forgot to do intervals ๐
Didn't manage 30 mins though: my old 30 mins route needs extending ๐ฅ #runningpunks
The cough persists and returns ๐ซค but I did return to kickboxing during a period of non-coughing last week. Feeling a bit down tbh. BUT my friend from work rocked up to say hello, during their recovery from surgery. I've committed to going trail running when they get the all-clear at Easter ๐ฏ
I dunno - I went to Cali a few years back and all the beaches around LA had this weird foam the whole time. I don't know what it was and I didn't want to find out ๐ซฃ
At least we know it's just raw sewage on this side of the pond ๐ซ
Ohhhh, I still have the cough and it involves gurgling ๐ฌ Exercise has not been happening.
Still got my "wellness check" - pretty sure I'm not well ๐คฃ
Reckon I can start my Higdon 30 walks again soon, and involve intervals as and when ๐ฅ
My dojo are putting on a World War 2 fighting skills workshop. Yasss - we are learning to punch N*zis!!!
