It's a bit more than “Labour also had a van” though, isn't it? The vehicle in question was clearly branded with the Labour Party logo and was encouraging voters to support Labour.

In any case, the local police have confirmed that they are investigating allegations that Labour broke election laws.

Regardless of whether these are exactly the same van, the claim that I responded to - that Labour weren't running attack vans - is quite clearly false

They still look pretty similar to me.

In any case, we know that Labour have been running ad vans in Gorton & Denton (they're definitely rentals as the Tories used similar ones in the 2024) and the van everyone is discussing had a giant Labour logo on its side. Seems pretty clear who was behind it.

Yes, Labour did put out an attack van. You can see the same van in the background of this picture from earlier this year.

It is pretty unambiguously the same van.

Ignoring the obvious green washing of the proposed plant, it's so important that it isn't built near a residential area.

Pyrolysis emissions, if not dealt with carefully, are highly carcinogenic. The site is situated within walking distance of a primary school. This is a disaster waiting to happen.

I explain how the Labour government's proposed revisions to the guidance on "keeping children in education" are designed to erase trans children in England. But it's not a done deal - there is plenty we can do to oppose this.

On 3 February, Reform UK called an Extraordinary Meeting to discuss their anti-trans motion, claiming to “protect women and girls”. The motion was debated by the Bassetlaw District Council and was amended to remove much of the transphobic language. The amended motion was passed by an overwhelming majority of councillors, which now states that the Council will “fully comply with the Supreme Court ruling... once the government issues final, legally binding guidance for public bodies.” We remain clear that the original motion should have been rejected outright. Its premise was built on misleading and harmful assumptions about trans people, particularly trans women, which have had no place in local government. However, the Council’s decision to reject the underlying transphobic framing of the original proposal is very welcome.

Protecting women’s rights and safety means supporting all women, including trans women. Any genuine approach to the safeguarding of women and girls must consequently be grounded in inclusion, evidence, and respect for the rights of marginalised and minoritised groups. Moving forward, we will continue to hold the Council to its duty to act lawfully, proportionately, and in a way that upholds the dignity and equal treatment of all residents. We thank everyone who turned up to stand with the trans community on Tuesday evening. The support was overwhelming, and we far outnumbered our opposition. If that clear act of collective solidarity shows us anything, it is that trans people belong in Bassetlaw and that our community is stronger when we stand together against discrimination.

It's been exhausting, but i'm very happy that Reform's motion was effectively defeated this evening.

There was a closeted girl in 2011 who was invited to an all-girls sleepover at her friend's house. It didn't matter that she slept on the floor whilst the other girls shared a bed. It meant everything to her to have been included. It took her 12 more years to come out.

It shouldn't take so long.
