Had such a good time with this!
Is he trying to... sneak up on the fire? π
Ok, letβs do thisπ
Weβll start with an explainer covering:
πWhat is a 15-minute city
π«What on Earth is going on with Oxford
π½Where the conspiracy theories have come from
And then weβll look at the Telegraph article

Making excellent use of my local library
They have no idea what βprotectionβ really means
Kate Bevan @katebevan.com also, we should pay MPS more. Make it more worth their while to do their actual jobs and not constantly be on the lookout for shady side-hustles. 11:00 AM Jan 21, 2026
This cherished tenet of Sensiblism is obv such utter rubbish. Those motivated by money never or v v rarely ever say: "know what? I'm wealthy enough. I'll stop there". Cos enough is *never* enough for the greedy. If we paid MPs more they'd simply pocket the pay rise & continue with the side hustles
Rocky has a real... hang-up about where his bag ends up. (Apologies. All complaints to @karamclean.bsky.social) #MovieSky #FilmSky #Rocky #SylvesterStallone
Love a 70s disaster flick!
Poster for A Few Good Men featuring floating head photographs of Tom Cruise, Jack Nicholson and Demi Moore above a gavel resting on the US flag.
Just watched: A Few Good Men (1992) for @twppod.bsky.social
Poster for the movie Rocky featuring a black and white photograph of Sylvester Stallone wearing a tracksuit, celebrating with his hands in the air, facing away from the camera, looking towards a wide street with a statue just ahead of him.
Now watching: Rocky (1976) for @twppod.bsky.social
Wait til he finds out you need 2 MMRs, multiple boosters for pertussis, 3 hep bβs then sometimes a 5 year booster and so on and so onβ¦
I trust Farage on health as much as I trust him on economy and human decency which is to say I trust a doorknob or a rabid mouse slightly more.
There is a group of people that are supposed to be composed in high stress situations, train for them in fact, get paid well for it, and are given very, very broad leeway on how they act, and yet they shit their pants constantly and cry about how scared they are all the time.
Unhook ourselves from oil and gas and we unhook ourselves from dependency on dictators, autocrats and expansionist regimes all over the planet.
Renewables and other low-carbon energy sources are not just good climate sense. They are also good political sense.
For our next episode, @danwatchesmovies.bsky.social and @karamclean.bsky.social are watching... #Rocky (1976). A first time watch for Kara! #MovieSky #Podcast #SylvesterStallone #Oscars

It was fun trying to keep the two Poseidons separate for our discussion about the 1972 classic π
In 1974 Captain America hung up his shield and became Nomad (The man without a country) because he found out a politician, very heavily hinted to be Nixon, is the leader of a terrorist organisation.
me: how do you stay looking so young?
dorian gray: *shifts uncomfortably* essential oils
Photo of the cover of Leif G. W. Person's novel, The Dying Detective, showing a side profile silhouette of an older gentleman's head and shoulders with an x-ray of his brain with red spreading from the centre.
Started reading my latest charity shop purchase and is it just me, or is putting "More authentic that Stieg Larsson", a quote from an Italian newspaper might I add, on the front of your book a little shitty?
I personally think the responsibility should be to international law but I wasnβt a human rights barrister so what do I know
Poster for the 2006 movie Poseidon, featuring a cruise ship in the process of being capsized by a HUGE wave.
Now watching: Poseidon (2006) because I obviously need to compare it to the original for @twppod.bsky.social
Dan and Kara decided to follow up the excellent Backdraft with its generational sequel, Backdraft 2. Is it just as good as its precursor?
youtu.be/IDEoh10HQc4?...
Sometimes, "can we discuss this in private?" means "can we discuss state secrets in front of a hot dog vendor?". The full Backdraft 2 discussion can be found here youtu.be/IDEoh10HQc4?...
An email starting with βfor your consideration: Nurembergβ
This studio awards-season email is really matching the current mood in a way Iβm not sure they intended.
I cannot emphasize enough that the attempts to anthropomorphize an algorithm is a fundamental act of journalistic malpractice and an intentional act to shield the people responsible for this. It's fucking shameful.
Poster for The Poseidon Adventure featuring a drawn main image of people running from water with individual squares of pictures of the main cast along the bottom. All this is above the title which is printed in the silhouette of an upside down ship.
Now watching: The Poseidon Adventure (1972) as our new year's eve themed watch for @twppod.bsky.social
Promotional poster for A Man on the Inside featuring Ted Danson holding up a newspaper with the title as the headline. We can see him in his dapper suit and glasses through a large 2 that has been cut out of the middle.
Finished season 2 of A Man on the Inside today. Didn't enjoy it quite as much as the first, mainly because I didn't care for the central romantic entanglement. But the mystery was fun and the ending satisfying.
Photograph of a copy of Leo Tolstoy's War and Peace, translated by Anthony Briggs. A large golden chandelier swings to the left of the otherwise black cover.
Two days and two chapters into this absolute monster! Joined the Footnotes & Tangents slow read of War and Peace for 2026. It's paced to take us all the way to the end of the year. I have also joined the Midnight's Children slow read which runs from January to March.
Okay, I have a resolution. 2026 will be the year I FINALLY watch The Godfather.
Questions we urgently need to stop asking:
What is Britishness?
What is a woman?
Kemi Badenoch, what's your opinion on this particular current matter of interest please?
