Meta Plans to Add Facial Recognition Technology to Its Smart Glasses
Facebook plans to put facial recognition in its glasses and they think we’re too stupid to fight back.
Their internal memo: “We will launch during a dynamic political environment where many civil society groups that we would expect to attack us would have their resources focused on other concerns.”

Your ‘Safe’ Stock Funds May Be Riskier Than You Think

River Grass Gansey pattern by Beatrice Smith
Recommended Needles
The pattern is River Grass Gansey. The yarn is a superwash wool from Elann, which is, unfortunately, no longer in business.

A grey cabled pullover
The top portion of the pullover, which has more cable panels than other sections. Cables that run along the length of the sleeves are also visible.
Photo of the hem and cuffs of the sweater, which consist of small scale cables, rather than ribbing.
🧶 In keeping with this week’s #showmeyourknits theme of grey knits, here is a cabled pullover that I made about 15 years ago.

Thanks! I ended up deciding to block the edge into points rather than curves to play up the flame/fiery effect of the colorway.

Thanks! Sometimes my finished objects don’t turn out as well as what I initially imagined, so I’m pleased that this one turned out nicely.

Hortense Beaded Lace Shawl pattern by Anna Victoria
Hortense means ‘Gardener’, the leaves
Pattern is the Fancy Hortense (I did not use beads).
Yarn is Freia Fine Handpaints Ombré Merino Lace in colorway Flare. I really like how the gradient color transitions turned out in this project.

A lacy shawl draped over a clothes hanger.
A lacy shawl spread out after blocking, with the ends gathered so that they don’t overlap each other.
A lacy shawl spread out after blocking. One end is folded over so that the other end will be visible, instead of covered up.
I de-stressed this week by finally blocking a shawl that I finished a while back. Knitting lace is such an act of crafting faith; it comes off the needles looking shriveled and lumpy, and you have to trust that it will be ok after blocking. 🧶 #knitsky

Ok, so I just googled it. Turns out the 100 year mortgage in Japan had its heyday 30-40 years ago when there was a real estate bubble and homes were not affordable for most folks under more conventional loan durations.
But I guess they are now pretty rare there.

Aren’t the lowest mortgage rates currently associated with the shortest loan terms?

I think they actually have those in Japan, where it’s more common to have multiple generations of a family sharing a home and the next generation remains in the home and takes on the debt when the prior genera passes away.

I can’t tell if he’s saying:
A) there is good insurance widely available that costs less than ACA plans
Or
B) medical expenses at “self-pay without insurance” prices costs no more than the amount of money that he’s suggesting get sent directly to people.
Either way, dead wrong.

Didn’t Alito express big mad a few months ago on a case about deportation flights, when lawyers filed an emergency petition to block the imminent deportations before a lower court had responded?
I’m guessing Alito decides to just not notice that the administration has committed the same “sin“

I hate that this is where we are now, but my recommendation is that kid3 make sure that her appearance telegraphs affluence and privilege.
It seems like ICE’s profiling concentrates on the most vulnerable; those they can bully and deport with minimal repercussions.

Day 2 of the Republican shutdown. Your regular reminders:
1. GOP controls government. They control what bills get voted on and the vote thresholds for each bill. Senate GOP can pass their bad funding bill today if they felt like it.
2. Dems are fighting to lower costs and save healthcare.

I think he’s trying to encapsulate “the House isn’t in session this week to help negotiate & pass a resolution to end shutdown, bc Mike Johnson would rather have shutdown than swear in a new D this week bc her signature on the Epstein petition would give them enough to be able to force a vote on it”

Kudos to you! I tried non-mirrored double knitting one time and gave up after a day or two because my brain just could not cope with…I would constantly realize that where my brain thought I was on the chart was not actually corresponding to my actual progress on the row.

I think anytime anything in their environment changes, it makes them extremely uncomfortable, and they don’t have the skills in their toolboxes to recognize this and cope with it. Instead, they just lash out in a confused rage.

DJT decked out in a helmet and tactical gear to “patrol with the National Guard.” The image is evokes the phrase “meal team six”
Michael Dukakis wearing a helmet and geared up to take a ride in a tank. The resulting video footage turned out to be considered a disastrous photo op for his presidential campaign.

Huge swaths of voters are mostly uninformed, and make their decisions at the ballot box based on sound bites and vibes.
In addition to being either completely disconnected from or skeptical of news coverage, they also believe any entertainment media (movies, TV) to be revealing gospel truths.

Hmm…for something more flat, maybe a checkerboard pattern of stockinette and seed stitch? Seed stitch 3 sts, stockinette 3 sts, alternate to end of row. After 3 rows, swap the order? Depending on how thick your yarn is, it might look better at 4x4 or 5x5 instead of 3x3.

A true man of the people only wants ketchup and mayo.
You start putting Dijon mustard on food, that’s a gateway to wanting things other than what the MAGA brain thinks can exist in the Andy Griffith Show universe.
Today you ask for Dijon, tomorrow equality for women. Where does the madness end?
