Do electric toothbrushes dream of android teeth?
Surely it would be third-class?
Hereβs my response to Mr Kamal:
I happened to have lunch with the then-proprietor of the shop today. He has a copy of the cover art
Just how big is your u-bend to accommodate a giant crocodile?
Where is the 3.5% calculated from? Reform are less than 1% of MPs
I'm more moderate on this issue than Kate, because I only think that people who complain about pylons should have their electricity cut off.
I briefly used to write these things and would be horrified by some of the edits required for SEO
Funerals should have a bit where they ask the congregation to speak up if thereβs any lawful reason why the dead person shouldnβt be buried
Trump is across the details?
If a man canβt give a Nazi salute at a party for a racist convicted fraudster and proven sex offender, then what kind of sick world are we living in, I ask you.
On balance, taking together both the muddled content (and lack of content) of the letter and the accumulation of telling details, this letter was never intended to be a credible litigation letter, it was always an exercise in publicity. Your response to this may be (and perhaps should be) βduh, no surprise there, Sherlockβ - but it is one thing to assert that a letter has no credible legal purpose, and another to demonstrate it could have no credible legal purpose, and to demonstrate on balance that it could have no credible legal purpose is what this short series of posts set out to do.

A third and final post about the 'Lettuce before Action' of Elizabeth Truss
The final piece of evidence which shows, on balance, that it was not intended as a serious legal letter

A clinical take down of the Truss libel letter.

Why the Truss "lettuce before action" is worse than you thought - and it has a worrying implication for free speech

I didn't mean to damn with faint praise, more a reflection on my use of adjectives than their skill
Absolutely. I think I was probably better at replying to them than writing them, but I had some excellent colleagues who would draft very robust LBCs
Agreed. I am rather rusty having moved on from defamation and litigation a couple of years ago, but there will always be bizarre and interesting flash points which draw me back in
The webpages cited in the letter were accessed on 20 October, so the letter has been long in the planning
Perhaps I overreached, as I agree with that part of your assessment. To restate my view, I suspect the report by Lillico was prepared with a defamation letter in mind, rather than deciding to draft the letter having seen the report. But I accept I am speculating.
I am inclined to think it may have been the other way around. Given the accessed dates on the websites, I wonder if they approached Lillico and said "here's a litigation letter, please write an economist's report in support".
Thank you for the RTs and likes of that quick post about Trussβs misconceived and illiberal libel threat.
Did not expect to ever spend time analysing a legal threat from a former Lord High Chancellor against a First Lord of the Treasury.
The bizarre letter was equal to these bizarre circumstances.
Hello to all the new followers who've arrived for the Liz Truss comedy cease and desist letter. Be prepared for long silences, sporadic cat posts and the occasional comment on England's seam attack.
If someone else launches a hilariously hopeless libel action I might perk up for a bit
The expert witness in her defence is Andrew Lilico.
Stop. I canβt take any more. Iβm laughing too hard
I have a theory they may have needed to wait for Dr Lillico's "expert" report
