The fact that I still have to push back against misogynistic character descriptions in some writers' books in 2026 is horrifying. Can we please move on from the "need" to describe the male MC's wife as "vivacious" so the character "would be more photogenic"? 🤦♀️
Writing Tip:
Consider all of your senses when you write. Visuals are obvious, but they're not the only tool in your toolbelt. What does a character see, hear, feel or smell? Even taste can be important in certain circumstances, strange as that may be.

Writing Tip:
There is a difference between a character making a mistake because its in their character, and a character making a mistake because you, the writer, want the plot to happen. Readers can tell the difference, so you're not going to fool them doing that.

There will always be a line you could tweak to sound better, a scene you could smooth out, a character you could develop further...
But at a certain point, revising becomes counterproductive. 🧵
Today, I did a massive follower purge on my X account. Went from 800 "followers" to just over 200 *actual* followers after purging bots, p0rn, accounts that've been inactive for over two years, and anyone supporting MAGA (or similar groups/people).
Just shows how much that platform has fallen ...
