The Princess Bride is a perfect movie in the sense that Jay Bauman uses the term: it sets clear goals for itself and executes on them flawlessly. It's unpretentiously silly, charming and fun, and I fucking hate its guts because it's my parents' favorite movie and they watch it over & over & OVER.

Something I noticed (Chrome on Android) trying to navigate David Crespo's sparring match with Kathryn Tewson is that particularly long threads will try to rocket to the top, after you scroll up a little, as all the posts load
Still better than Twitter, which just jumps around at random

My initial read on this situation was that David wanted to experiment with what his neat little tool could do while Kathryn was just out to publicly humiliate him. After a brief hopeful interim I am now fully confident my first blush was correct.

It worked just fine after remarkably little trial and error for the original request, which was discerning citation from reference. Now all of a sudden I see Kathryn is saying it needs to draft argument? The goalposts have been moved fifty yards downfield

You, and not David, are the one lying about what David said and this screenshot is proof positive

...seriously? Communication with computers in natural language has been the dream of sci-fi for practically as long as computers and sci-fi have coexisted youtu.be/Drr6_zikuZQ

Now I have to look at Keanu Reeves and pretend he's Johnny Silverhand, and he sticks out like a sore thumb since everybody else in the game looks like nobody in particular (or at least nobody I've seen before)

Me neither, I'm totally speaking in the abstract here.
I started having thoughts like this as graphics in video games advanced enough that scanning actors' faces in has become commonplace, which I think throws out a big advantage of games.

99% of the discussion of video generation in the context of movies is about making VFX cheaper, nobody really brings up the idea of replacing actors, but don't you think they're kind of a big weakness of movies as a medium, when you give it some thought?

I might be the only person on Earth that thinks this, but I kinda want a post-actor era of movies once the tech gets good enough. Like, what if I didn't have to pretend I'm not watching Ryan Gosling pretending to be K? What if it was just K?

I use a pressure cooker. Not even an Instant Pot with a dedicated rice setting, just a secondhand Cuisinart pressure cooker.
