1) Good news: the European call on high-burden, under-researched conditions will likely be renewed in the 2025 work program of Horizon Europe.
#MECFS is prominently mentioned as an example.

I have to see my employers doctor tomorrow and the irony is I can't sleep. After 2 years of sleep, I was not expecting this problem. I'm terrified that I'll lose my job if I don't agree to go back in some capacity. #CFS #ME #LongCovid But if I don't go back soon, I'll die of poverty. Great options!

It's so nice to be back online again. That's definitely the last time I go to hospital for a day procedure when I'm severe. Just slept for 19 or 20 hours out of every 24 for months. Feeling a little better at last.

Friends or family who go to a gym, consider helping your me/cfs or fibromyalgia loved one with physical tasks instead...

Text readsโJust had my disability hearing and it was frankly the most traumatic experience of my life idk why anyone would put themselves through this for no reasonโ
Text readsโLike it actually felt like I was being prosecuted for a crime that's how shameful these ppl made me feel and it's 100x worse than any of the medical gaslighting l've experienced recentlyโ
Text reads โJust feels like a gut punch honestly
I have issues that are so complicated for me to explain that it probably just sounds to outside observers that I'm bullshitting but I'm not. Like screaming in a nightmare and nothing coming out.
Not even a tiny squeak.
I'm in max suicidal mode rnโ
I just got these texts from a bed bound Long COVID friend who went through a traumatic experience at her SSDI hearing. Itโs heartbreaking how dehumanizing this process is for people already struggling to survive. #SSDI #DisabilityRights #LongCOVID

Tips: moving from Xitter to Bsky
Before you start following people, fill out your profile! Bio, PFP, banner, and post at least 5 to 10 things. Just reuse your top 10 banger tweetsโrecycling is encouraged! This way, when people see you followed them and they check your profile, theyโll know you arenโt a bot, will see what you are about, and might follow back.
Turn off NSFW filters in Settings > Moderation > Content Filters ( อกยฐ อส อกยฐ) and Settings > Moderation > Advanced > Bluesky Moderation Service
Find your friends from the hellsite using SkyFollowerBridge.com. Not perfect, but it will find the majority of the people you were following.
Follow a few feeds related to your interests. Some generic ones Iโd recommend:
Catch Up: kinda like a โbest posts of the weekโ
Only Posts: to see no quotes/reposts, only new posts from those you follow
FollowersLike: to discover random things your followers recently liked
Turn on โShow Posts From My Feedsโ in Settings > Following Feed Preferences. This will sprinkle random posts from your feeds into your main Home feed.
Block often. Donโt interact with trolls, donโt quote dunk, comment, nothing. Let them rot in silence, take away their oxygen and theyโll asphyxiate. This is the Bsky way.
Fuck content scrapers. Do not let that trash overwhelm this site, do not share their stolen content. You can block them all with two clicks by going to joaobaldwin.com/scrapers and on the top-right clicking on Subscribe > Block Accounts (I know, โSubscribeโ is an odd thing to name it, but thatโs how block lists work here).
Use alt text to make images accessible. Helps for translations, readability, findability, and users with slow internet. Turn on Settings > Accessibility > Require alt text before posting
Likes on reposts do not trigger notifications. If you only repost stuff, it might look super quiet even if people are liking what you repost. Mix in more regular posts or quotes!
It takes time to rebuild, and that is fine, but the best tโฆ

I know medical misogyny is a huge part of it but are there other reasons why the medical establishment have overwhelmingly ignored conditions like fibromyalgia and ME?
Itโs bananas to me with how debilitating and widespread these conditions that research mostly ignores them. #NEISVoid

Covid Causes Much More than Brain Fog
A mountain of evidence tells us that even mild Covid is bad for your brain.
When you see someone riling up teachers and parents, blaming phones (or whatever) for children's academic and intellectual struggles, you can share this. I've updated it. I tried to be as thorough as possible:

Black and white photograph of a group of older women standing outside wearing heavy, patterned, traditional Irish shawls
Photograph of an older woman wearing a traditional Irish shawl sitting on a low stone wall next to a young boy
Firmly believe Ireland lost its way as a nation when we stopped wearing shawls that doubled as cosy blankets, and would like to propose a return to the wearable bed

Nothing more than to one day find work I'm physically capable of doing.
It's so hard because unless I can do something consistently enough to make it into a job it's not really safe for me to try (both for my healths sake & the fact that disability can get revoked & I still won't be able to work)

It was clear from the moment I got sick at eighteen years and started seeing doctors in 2012 that something very strange was happening around this disease, and it was bigger than me. When that Infectious Disease specialist gave me that creepy grin and told me I had to 'deal with my demons'
- without offering any path to doing so - it was clear that my suffering was being profoundly dishonored, that I was getting fucked in some larger impersonal way.
Instead of being given an ME diagnosis & warned about overexerting, I was told by my doctor to journal about my โchildhood trauma.โ When I asked, โwhat childhood trauma?โ she double checked my chart & said โuhh, repressed trauma.โ
