He seems pretty sensitive whenever someone confronts him with evidence that Putin might not be our friend. Even when Fox brings it up.
what do you think his standard cut is?
"Bidenβs pardons eliminated roughly $680,000 in financial penalties owed to victims or the government. In contrast, Trumpβs second-term pardons have forgiven criminal debts of more than $1.5 billion."

a thing I always say
Not a bad description of the original Nazis especially the uppers part
a lot of what has made discourse insane is that there's an entire crop of guys who live in dc, do a ton of uppers, and have massive gender insecurity around the fact that they're soft-handed scribes
interesting that Google doesnβt recognize the Mabel-Bonar bike boulevards yet (compare to Channing west of West on this map)
i know a lot of people wanted dedicated lanes on San Pablo but really I like the bike boulevards as long as the crossings are hardened like this (and also the streets are paved).
kind of sucks that the side streets are choppy but itβs not a disaster as long as itβs labeled clearly.
i think thereβs messy UC / city issues involved somehow. but doesnβt make it right.
that, or they could have closed the parking lane on the east side, and moved everything one lane east (bike lane replaces current northbound, northbound replaces current southbound, southbound replaces current parking).
still salty about this one though.
for those not local, hereβs the intersection weβre talking about.
Mabel and Bonar are side streets to the major road San Pablo to the west / left. Theyβre the designated βbike boulevardβ (slower street with signage). Key issue with those is always crossing the busy streets, eg Dwight.
Credit where itβs due - @berkeleyca.gov is doing a good job right now with the Mabel-Bonar bike boulevard crossing of Dwight. Stop sign on Dwight, bike lane for the jog on Dwight between Mabel and Bonar.

This is one of those bands I know absolutely nothing about but then Andrew gives me the decoder key.
Like - I didnβt even know they were British. Those 60s blues-imitating Brit bands fool me pretty often.
A fluffy white cat reclines in a modern white lounge chair, lying on its back with its front paws resting on its belly and back legs stretched out. The cat looks relaxed and content, as if lounging like a person in the sunlight near a window.
Good, I see the council is assembled. We have mews from the outer rim to discuss.
which was a lot better than the 30% annual rate in early 2022!!
back in early 2024, rent inflation was ~60% higher than the rest of CPI (5% vs 2.9%)
but also more generally the whole βis the economy badβ debate (eg the endless Stancil wars in 2024).
younger people / renters / homebuyers have a very different experience than older people / homeowners!
including this.
it would be fascinating to look at this same data for different geographies (eg big metros vs exurban / rural; red state vs blue state).
Gut sense - do you think they all inflected around the same time?
This census data is for me the secret decoder ring of so much of whatβs been going in the US in the last 20 years.
Downthread Kevin gave this context: βIn 2006 and after, new home construction collapsed, and that's what moved it far from trend.β
There are 86 million family households and 49 million non-family households (which average 1.34 adults).
The gap between current household size and the long-term trend is about 15 million adults, which would have formed about 11 million non-family households if they averaged 1.34 adults.
Brent crude oil right near $90
Quite an opening paragraph.
Atmospheric CO2 concentration graphed from 1957 to present, showing a continuous increase to current 429 parts per million. The annual natural cycle of slight ups and downs can also be seen. Measurements are taken hourly at the top of Mauna Loa, Hawaii
The latest update from the Mauna Loa CO2 observatory, shows current #carbondioxide concentrations continue to accelerate upward. The latest reading? 429.1 parts per million. Pre-industrial concentrations were under 280 ppm.
