Watching tomorrow for widespread rain (and maybe some thunder).
Thankfully Valentine's Day will be quiet and comfortable!

Thankfully Valentine's Day will be quiet and comfortable!

TOMORROW | Rain is likely. At this point, more rain is favored toward the afternoon than the morning. Could get some thunder.
TODAY | Lovely day ahead with highs near 60 degrees. Plenty of sun early with more clouds late. No rain!
#SCwx #NCwx
RAIN TOTALS on Sunday will range from a half an inch to an inch across the region. A decent soaking for sure! We will need more to clear the developing drought across the Carolinas, but we can use what we can get.

VALENTINE'S DAY is looking pleasant with a chilly start early but a dry and mild afternoon in store. No rain to ruin outdoor plans this holiday! (that comes on Sunday π)
#SCwx #NCwx
Sunday looks like a soggy mess as a low pressure system swings through the Carolinas. Already looking like the day is gonna be a washout π.
Thankfully, Valentine's Day shouldn't have any rain.
To be fair, the rain is needed for our area as we are yet again under a drought!
#SCwx #NCwx
TONIGHT | Another cold night! Similar to last night, expect overnight lows to fall to the upper 20s to lower 30s. Patchy frost is possible inland.
#SCwx #NCwx
Drought is (yet again) worsening across the Carolinas.
This isn't anything major as of now, but we could use the extra rain. This Sunday brings a good deal of rain, but it likely won't be nearly enough to fix our prolonged dryness. Regardless, we take what we can get!
#SCwx #NCwx
TODAY | Cold start, but we'll warm up to the 50s by the afternoon. Yeah, that's a bit chilly but something tells me we can tolerate this after all the cold we've had! π
#SCwx #NCwx
Next week gets much warmer! But before we get there, we get a few cool days and a rainy one on Sunday!
#SCwx #NCwx
EXTENDED FORECAST | Cooler than average through Friday with rain this Sunday. Afterward, a prolonged warming trend. If you like an early taste of Spring, this weather will be great for you!
#SCwx #NCwx
THURSDAY | A bit cooler than Wednesday, but an overall comfortable day with plenty of sun! π€οΈ
#SCwx #NCwx
Back to near freezing tonight. Expecting 30s all across our area overnight after today's cold front.
#SCwx #NCwx
THE WEEK AHEAD | Warming up through midweek. Rain chances increase by Wednesday. Near or just below average temperatures by Valentine's Day.
No major Arctic cold. No snow.
#SCwx #NCwx
Watching signs for rain chances to return by Wednesday or so. It'll be noticeably warming up ahead of time.
#SCwx #NCwx
TONIGHT | Another very cold night ahead. With less wind, frost is more likely this time around. Bundle up!
#SCwx #NCwx
TODAY | Another chilly day but thankfully the brisk wind backs off. That'll make it less harsh though you'll still want an extra layer out and about.
#SCwx #NCwx
Shortly before 8:00am and it's COOOOLD outside!
Still a bit of a wind making it feel like the teens along the beaches! π₯Άπ₯Άπ₯Ά
#SCwx #NCwx
TONIGHT | Back to sub-freezing again! π₯Ά
BE CAREFUL THOUGH! Freezing fog is possible overnight into early Friday morning. Slick spots on roadways, bridges, overpasses are possible. π
#SCwx #NCwx
5:45am ET | Yet another COLD start. But we aren't seeing single digits, so it is an improvement π
#SCwx #NCwx
Okay, after looking at the numbers...
Lumberton breaks the daily record of 11, set back in 1980 while ALSO tying the all-time low of -1 back in January 1985.
This while Florence breaks the previous record set back in 1980.
Myrtle Beach ties the record of 20 set back in 1945!
Negative ONE?! If this is legitimate, that breaks the Lumberton low temperature record for today by a mile while also tying all time record lows set back in January 1985!
#SCwx #NCwx
OUCH! THREE DEGREES in Lumberton! Many other spots below 10 degrees! It just doesn't get cold like this very often at all! Thankfully the wind is less of an issue this morning. π₯Ά π₯Ά π₯Ά
Wow... Look at that temperature divide.
27Β° in Laurinburg, 45Β° in Georgetown.
THIS is why liquid rain is expected along the coast. Meanwhile, concerns for ice continue for Scotland, Robeson, Marlboro, Darlington, Florence & Dillon counties.
Not out of the woods just yet.
7:05am ET | Freezing rain and drizzle over Horry County as the Winter storm moves through.

NEW BLOG: The latest on what to expect with the rain and wintry weather possibilities. wpde.com/weather/abc-...
While snow is looking less likely for our area π , the possibility raised an interesting question: How often have we seen measurable snow more than once in a 12-month time-frame?
10 times it has happened in Myrtle Beach. 18 times in Florence. And 44 times in Lumberton!
#SCwx #NCwx
Measurable snow is sadly not looking like a realistic chance anymore for parts of our area.
That being said, some flakes could still fall on the back-end of what will be a mainly cold rain event. I'll foolishly hope for this, but I cannot forecast snow in good faith. Stay warm!

THIS WEEK | Back to cold! Hope you enjoyed the warm spell this weekend, because we are gonna see temps tumble tonight! Get those Winter coats back!
