A question to my fellow writers β What POV do you prefer writing in? Iβm writing in Third Person because itβs providing a space between me and the material.

Thanks for the encouragement π
I was ambushed by a final chapter on my walk today, and Iβm not even halfway done. It's already my favorite scene, but I'm not touching it yet. Experience says another surprise is just around the corner. #WritingForTheWin :)

Agreed. And possibly "it made me" in the sense of exploring thoughts I never dared explore.
"Plant the seeds before they grow" - I like it. When I think back to the very first day, the seeds I planted all looked the same, but now I can see subtle differences in each of them. My characters are becoming individuals π

Yeah, it's interesting isn't it? When I first plotted my book I considered "killing one of my characters" and wondered if that said anything bad about me (lol). I was horrified to have even considered the idea. Turns out... I'm actually still a nice guy ;)
I don't mean to sound melodramatic, but I think writing is literally saving my life. It's providing a daily structure, replacing unhealthy habits and it's providing a sense of who I truly am. The more I write, the more I'm loving me.

Thanks for the encouragement. I'll be sure to tap into your wisdom at some point π
Hey Mindy. Congrats on starting your second novel. This is year two for me on my first book ever. Loving the process π
Someone asked me to describe my characters, and I panicked a little. I think it's because Iβm still discovering them myself. Talking about them too soon feels like Iβd be closing the door on something I donβt fully understand. Make sense?

It's a biotech thriller about a scientist racing to complete a revolutionary robot that could change millions of livesβincluding her ownβwhile someone is systematically sabotaging her work.
Turns out it's a thriller, although I had no idea what genre I was shooting for when I started π€
Watching the story develop is fascinating. It's the little surprises along the way that keep me going.

The raccoons in BC would shoot you for a steak ... if guns were legal. Seriously, don't go camping in BC. They'll never see you again.
Writing my first book and realizing how much of it is just showing up on days when the words feel clumsy. StillβI'm genuinely enjoying the process. Didnβt expect that part.

Something I didnβt expect while writing my first book: the characters keep teaching me things I wasnβt looking for.

Iβm learning that writing a book is less about inspiration and more about patience with your own messy thinking.

"Pursuit" is the underlying theme. I find as I get older that there are things I wish I had done but didn't because of other interests. It's a cautionary tale.
Winter is coming, and I'm getting back into writing my book. With a full-time job, it's hard to find the time in summer. I jot down ideas all year, but I find the "actual writing" needs dedicated time. Does anyone else face this problem?

I think there are two reasons for wanting my protagonist to be the "opposite" of me.
1. I don't like talking about myself, and
2. I think it'll be helpful to try and see the world through someone else's eyes.

I wanted my main protagonist to be the complete opposite of me. But as I write, I realize We all share little things that are similar. There is no such thing as a complete opposite.

Update 002. Why?... I've asked myself this question so many times? Why write a book? Who would even care about my story? And it's actually a pretty simple answer? ME. I'm writing this book for me, and if that helps someone else... what an excellent bonus that will be. #writing #fiction #drama
Writing Update 001 - I've been thinking of writing a book for decades, but finding the right moment has been difficult. But that all of that changed in October 2024. I knew I wouldn't survive the cold dreary winter without a meaningful project, so here we go :)
Thanks π
Hello everyone. I'm writing my first ever novel, and I'm being blown away by the experience. I'm not sure where this will lead, but if I get nothing more than self therapy... it would have all been worth it :)
