The numbers are in for 2024. Solar power provided 10% of ERCOT’s power supply — 48,220 GWh, a 48% increase compared to 2023. Solar passed nuke last year and will pass coal this year.

Note that NatGas gen was also up in 2024 compared to 2023.

2024 was a fantastic year for energy storage Batteries reshaped the power grid in California and Texas, showing the rest of the country what's possible when the tech is allowed to flourish.

2024 was the year of energy storage in TX. Project/technology costs dropped. Incredibly strong capacity growth. Increased participation in ERCOT ancillary services & RT market. Zero ERCOT conservation alerts (compared to 11 in 2023). Output records. Lower consumer costs & increased reliability.

Lamar County celebrates commencement of half-billion dollar solar project On Thursday, Lamar County celebrated the commencement of Ørsted’s Mockingbird Solar Center - a 468 megawatt solar project located just down the road from Paris.
