It is a pity that is what the ALP and L+/-NP think their job is... but in reality they should be focusing on representing the interests of people, not their donors or corporations.

Chris Minns thinks heβs Donald Trump - accusing protesters of violence when there is so much footage of police brutality.
You canβt gaslight us, @chrisminnsmp.bsky.social
We know exactly what we saw & who ordered it.
This is so un-Australian. We DO NOT brutalise legitimate & peaceful protesters.
Better to have a kooka hanging around than cookers with their sovcit mates.
Single frame. Top left fade-out vignette of Alex Pretti; bottom right fade-out vignette of the ICE agents crowding (from recent footage of them murdering Alex Pretti). Text in seriffed font: βThe only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun.β Hand corrected in red pencil to say: βThe only thing that stops a good guy with eyes + a phone is a bunch of armed federal goons with absolute impunity.β
Bad guys with guns.
My @smh cartoon.
Four frames. 1. Hands holding invitation βYouβre invited to join my Board of Peaceβ - Trump signature. Richard Marles says βItβs like the UN but without all the Human Rights and Rule of Law palaverβ¦β 2. Albo now in pic, Marles continues, βSo far it includes various peace-loving luminaries, like Tony Blair, Viktor OrbΓ‘n, Netanyahuβ¦β 3. ββ¦plus Trumpβs son-in-law and a bunch of property developersβ¦β Albo says βShould we join it?β 4. Marles: βPerhaps we could appeal to their better angelsβ¦β
Long shot.
My @smh @theage cartoon.
Sadly it is likely that Albanese is actually seriously considering accepting the invite. But he should be listening to the Canadian PM and Ukraine's President Zelensky. Australia needs to step up as a middle power and throw off the shackles of subservience to the US as a vassal state.

Really interesting and illuminating. The ABC doing its job.
The Liberal/National parties are simply bereft of any intellectual depth and lack the capability for critical thought to enable the development of any nuanced policy for even the simplest issues. Sadly the lack of a minority government means the Labor Party can get away with its own mediocrity.
The AFR's Phil Coorey has posted an unhinged, unfactual, fear-mongering piece, falsely equating pro-Palestine protests with anti-Semitism, claiming they chant "kill the Jews". This has been proven to be untrue. Coorey's op-ed is unfactual and dangerous. π #BondiBeachShooting
Yeah, er, maybe don't "hand-pick" someone who is clearly going to make recommendations primarily about silencing criticism of Israel?
Or remove her from the role when you find out her husband's company donated $50k to Advance?
If there was a theological category of best, Walter Bruggemann clearly ticked the box. Vale to one of the most influential authors in my life.
Even though Dutton is gone, Gina doesn't care. Because she still owns the Labor Party mining policy position.
This is in part consolation for the potential lack of a minority government.
James McGrath continues to spread lies and distorted reality, clearly demonstrating his misogynistic, authoritarian, and fascist attitude on #auspol #abctv
What the hell is "tactical reconciliation"? Dutton blows his dog whistle again. #leadersdebate

@australia.theguardian.com about "Anywhere but Canberra"? As Holli said, in the recent article on her, she'd like to see rent caps. Perhaps she'd like to know the ONLY place in Australia where housing isn't completely unaffordable, due to its rent caps, is Canberra. No thanks to ALP or Liberals.
As usual, @thejuicemedia.bsky.social telling us how it really is.
This really is the election where we need to write a '1' in the box beside an independent or minor party candidate. Otherwise we'll have to live with the dump of number 2's.

It's a good idea to not gut the public service.
History has shown us that when you cut public service jobs, you donβt save the nation a single cent. It costs the country more because work is then carried out by expensive contractors and consultants.
@futurework.org.au #auspol
Indeed, the core problem isn't supply, it's ownership, specifically the lack of public housing caused by the Coalition and ALP obsession with a neo-liberal economic ideology that undermined the common good (the national interest of citizens, and not the interests of those who donate to politicians).
I am not hearing this from Albanese or Dutton
These two mealy mouthed weaklings will not stand up for Australiaβs best interest
Both knew the tariffs were coming and they both still support giving Billions to the USA for fantasy submarines & to build USA capability & maintaining US bases

Ditch AUKUS, unwind the copyright changes from the US/AU free trade agreement, make US companies pay tax on income earned in Australia... and sign up with the European Research agreement.
Each election, both major parties mislead Australians with faux postal vote registration forms that look like official, non-partisan websites and letters but are actually for data harvesting.
The AEC hates it. Voters hate it. They should stop this shit www.crikey.com.au/20...
This practice also normalises data theft, particularly from vulnerable populations. It's high time it was outlawed altogether, but until that happens it would be the bare minimum of decency for parties to stop doing it.
Australia gave up a lot for a free trade agreement with the USA - which Trump has torn up. Time for us to claw back what we gave up - including +20 years to copyright terms that benefit American media giants.
100 per cent. If weβre going to cop tariffs then letβs finally sort out copyright, whack social media companies, introduce streaming quotas etc.
Sadly none of this will happen because the entire political and media class are giant baby cowards.
