Citizens of the country could be called Turtles. With all due respect to my many USA friends who are excepted, this seems appropriate for that country's recent history in that it brings to mind immense, cold-blooded creatures, and their frequent description as living fossils! 🙂
Given the proclivity of the USA President for changing geographic names, I suggest that the rest of the world now refer to his country as "Turtle Island". This is the name originally used by the largest indigenous nation, the Navajo, for their homeland.
I see media commentary announcing the first American pope. Was not the previous incumbent American? And it occurs to me that it is surely now time to stop referring to the USA as "America" and recognise that there are many more countries on those continents.

There is no other word in the English language that begins with \et-set\.
This is probably why many people (not you, of course) pronounce it “ecsetera” or “excetera.”
