We need to think about this happening in the state that leads the WORLD in wrongful convictions. The conduct that got IL that designation is part of how and why we are facing horrors like this today. I know we want to separate the 2 things. But. We. Cannot. If anyone is unsafe, everyone is unsafe.
Im thankful the word “co-governance” has stopped being used so much in Chicago. Because its not what has been happening, and it felt a lot more like “co-opting” instead.
My best friend’s sister, who CBP has been telling us different stories all day about, her phone just got turned back on. She is a US citizen born in Evanston. They said she was never detained at O’Hare after telling us she was, they said she was not transferred to Broadview, and now she's in a detention facility in WI.

Update from Broadview where Morrison told me CBP told Raja Krishnamoorthi and him that she was released last night
But Morrison said CBP now says she was never detained despite her phone pinning at Broadview as of around 9pm
We also worked on a 5 yr housing plan when Brandon got into office, whose main ask was to take stock of all the city funded affordable housing and make it easier to figure out which units were available. There was a bunch of work put in- and it was never released. www.chicago.gov/city/en/dept...

Holding politicians accountable is absolutely essential. I worked on Brandon Johnson’s campaign, and understand he’s up against the system in place. That should never stop us from demanding the city + libraries we deserve and for leaders to keep promises.
