Proud/excited/nervous that our drug repurposing for platinum resistant HGSOC #ovariancancer has opened in Newcastle, NSW. As the consumer team leader on this 5+year project am especially excited to trial an oral drug with low toxicity compared to usual chemo infusions.

A few snaps from the past couple of weeks of 20+ hours of consumer in research interactions. Workshops, meetings, grant reviews....
...and even more
For the Trumpstein curious - a rabbit hole to go down this weekend.
It was an honour to present with @djmarsh24.bsky.social at the 'Consumer Involvement in Research PhD Translational Skills Workshop' last week.
As a consumer I'm mystified that grant assessors are so far ill-informed about this. The time saved (let alone animals spared) from lab to bedside when repurposing drugs can save so many lives.
Never a dull moment at @daffodilcentre.org Team Day!
Sydney I'm proud of you. Latest estimate of the March for Humanity was 300,000 of us peacefully protesting on a wet, winter's day.
Congrats π What an amazing milestone!
Part of the hiatus was digging into winter, feeling antisocial in both digital and real life. But am back now, following my own advice - making soup, rugging up for wintry walks and taking vitamin D. What gets you over the winter hump? gillstannard.com.au/2025/07/07/o...
Have had a bit of a hiatus on this platform. First a month or so having an Indonesian Odyssey, then returning to a Sydney winter and readjusting to post tropical holiday life. Just discovered a stack of new followers while I was elsewhere - thank you so much.
Soup season is one of the best things about winter! Last week was nettle and mushroom. This week? What should I make from the soup collection? gillstannard.com.au/2020/07/07/t...
Small leather bound notebook in a box
Handwritten page of a notebook detailing the virtues of sea water which amongst other things is good for restoring strength and as a cure for rheumatic pains, healing wounds, colic, and the bites of mad dogs
This early 18th century herbal notebook is a very #PopularItem in our collection. It has cures for everything from hiccups to the plague (and the odd cake recipe too). It's also shrouded in mystery - who was the author?!

Always a tough choice as to who the worst is though, so many contenders vying for this position.
Very worrying. I fear things will get much worse before they get better.
What's it like being a naturopath in the chemo chair? Despite 11 yrs since tx and actually 'surviving', it feels incredibly raw listening to the ReMe podcast interview! Thanks Luanfor your powerful podcast and allowing me to be vulnerable.

Appreciate the companies who are sending option to opt out of Mother's Day marketing. Sadly a long way to go but grateful for those who do.
Congratulations all Cancer Council Research Award recipients. A delightful celebration last night, with so many inspiring conversations researchers and fellow consumers. Head and heart full (tummy not so for non-meat eaters!).
Love this!
Foreign aid cuts (primarily USA) could mean 10 million more HIV infections by 2030 β and almost 3 million extra deaths.

Tis the season.
Last year I swapped Easter for Songkran in Thailand and stashed a dozen hot cross buns in the freezer for winter. Excellent idea ...and so the bun freezing season begins!
File this under "consumer in research life"
Congratulations Bayley on submitting his PhD today! The inaugural Jill Emberson Pink meets Teal PhD Scholarship recipient at HMRI who has been working on drug repurposing for treatment resistant #ovariancancer The A Team wish him the best and are excited to see what happens next in his career.
See you at the NHAA Symposium in May!

After decades of research as cancer biologists, very happy to be receiving our group's first grant to research #endometriosis from Endometriosis Australia with collaborators Caroline Ford, Jacqui Donaghue, Cathy Gorrie, Amy Sarker, Teagan Fisher & @herbalgill.bsky.social #EndometriosisAwarenessMonth
Am so excited to be working on this project with you and the team.
