While I don’t think there’s a ~need~ for more people to be practicing (it’s great, I highly endorse it) one would at least presume a higher volume of “oh hey, what’s all this about?” than actually seems to be the case, even if just from bumbling if earnestly curious academics, etc.
During the right time of year I can publicly livestream what used to be completely inaccessible traditions with guidance from duly authorized initiates and see under a half dozen people representing millions in a major metro.
One of the things that throws me for a loop is that the inner practice of any number of esoteric traditions is essentially more accessible than it’s ever been, even in comparison to the height of the “new age” movement, but it feels like fewer people are interacting with it.
