I am surprised by my 21 yr old son and his questions about the big transitions in my life. About how friendships change after college. How did they change for you?

I'd like to be that dog...

I have an antique house (1860). Remodeling has gone much more slowly than anticipated. Contractor issues, cost overruns, you name it. I do some of the work myself and realize that even the smallest projects can yield great results. Adding an additional garage door opener button makes things easier.

The U.S. is the only major country on Earth that does not guarantee workers a paid vacation.

When a husband, wife & kids are unable to spend any time together on vacation, that is not a family value. It's an attack on everything a family is supposed to stand for.

Had an amazing “orange roll” from the local boulangerie- think cinnamon roll but with orange filling and cream cheese icing. 20/10 couldn’t put down the fork.

I love the idea of a birthday dinner week. I'm also quite happy to have "birthday yellow sheet cake from a box with chocolate frosting" because that is what my mom used to make me when I was a kid.

I kind of want to go

well, a friend's company just had two large commercial projects canceled. The increase in prices of steel and aluminum was too much to go forward with the project (added 3.5M$ to each project) That was just this week.

Laying off people by "If your badge doesn't work, you're fired" is incredibly dishonorable and cowardly. It doesn't cost anything to be a human being.

we really need a regularly and nationally celebrated late march/early april 3-day weekend holiday

I can't believe they are going to shut down federal student loans. I would never have graduated from college without student loans, nor would my kids be able to graduate without them. I'm very lucky that my son starts his last year in the fall and we have enough to afford the last two semesters.

Drove the dogs from Maine to Minnesota for doggy bootcamp. My son was voluntold to join me. Overall not a terrible drive, we took it easy. Great time chatting and the only real issue is the airport was closed due to fog and now we’re stuck in Boston!
