Nathanael Lessore grew up in a North Peckham estate as one of eight children to French and Madagascan parents. He can run 100 metres in under 10 minutes and has trouble finding sunglasses that frame his face properly.

A relatively new author, Nate Lessore’s first book was Steady for This, published in 2023. Steady for This won the Branford Boase Award (for first novels), was shortlisted for the Carnegie Medal (for the best writing for young people) and Jhalak Prize (for diverse books). It was also a KLS Staff Book Club pick!

His second book, King of Nothing, won the Carnegie Medal for Shadower’s Choice, the Jhalak Prize, and Waterstones Prize.
