My first name is one of those names with a wide variety of variant spellings and common botches, and I swear I've seen at least 3 versions already today at 10:30. If I make it to 5 by noon I'm declaring bingo and demanding a prize.

I had the building-wide alarm here go off about 20 minutes after I finished the second day of all-day depositions. We're all rolling the work-from-home dice.
I don't really disagree, I would say only that those kinds of private moments, once broadcast, inevitably take on a normative quality- more so at a time when there's a major push on to identify this issue as one for which everyone is guilty and must be reformed. Context makes billboards of us all.
It remains mildly shocking to me how little anyone really knows what what's going on in a legal case- people who have worked on it for a year have only the vaguest sense of what stage it's at or what comes next or where that smell is coming from. The art is not in knowing, but knowing where to look.
I've always liked this city when it's not trying to kill me- I'm terribly picky, as you know. I haven't been to SD in years and years, if I get sent down there for work (we've got a fair number of cases there) or you're up here, let's grab coffee some time. I can promise a different kind of ennui!
Could be worse. I'm pretty well situated in LA, just re-upped my lease, job is driving me insane but at least I'm back in the working world. Rest of my life needs the rust knocked off it. How are you doing?
In the past few years I've taken my two on a plane and driven them cross-country twice. I think if I tried this they'd assume we were joining a space program.
The elan of a past age of warfare survives in the opposing counsel who offers you three extensions to respond to their discovery responses... of 120+ special interrogatories, 80+ requests for documents, 60+ Requests for Admissions, etc..
We shall all die here of course, but as gentlemen.
