In the (lefty, borderline anarchist) Episcopal parish I was part of for much of my adult life, we did this as a blessing for a person or family that was leaving the parish. I’ve never been a believer, but as a communal gesture of love and care it was pretty powerful (but fuck everyone in that photo)

I’ve been into it for a while but I got to read sone of it with a tutoring student, which was so much fun. I started in on making a student edition of it a few years ago and maybe should return to that

I’ve been tutoring an AP student and it’s prompted me to read letters I haven’t looked at in ages. Administrative letters about aqueducts and different types/processes for citizenship are surprisingly fun and interesting to read and discuss with teenagers (and obvs ghosts and Vesuvius)
