it's really easy to get caught up in a negative spiral when you are too online

but sometimes you just have to pick your battles! or mute and block if it gets too much

this also shows, on a smaller scale, that you cannot convince someone with Facts and Logic, even if you quote something directly from the text with your own arguments, they can still disagree or see it completely differently

doesn't mean you can't still argue and discuss

the fact that media analysis and critique is subjective is established by the fact that a lot of modern fandom discourse is just opposing teams accusing each other of having no media literacy, not being able to read or having incorrectly parsed the objective facts of the narrative

I think the biggest damage to the art community was the obsolescence of gallery sites (y!, deviantart, etc) and the rise of scroll-by social media, like twitter and even tumblr. Art is not ''content'', you shouldnt need to post art every day (or every month!) to be relevant. This mindset sucks.

yeahh i understand perfectly that it depends, so i guess i look at it more holistically, whether your account looks like an empty gallery or if more like a personal collection someone is curating

it's one of those 'you know it when you see it' but sometimes it can be difficult, hence my post x)

-LARPing to have the image of an artist, which is also something AI artists do. They don't care about the community or the process so they just submit their AI drawings and leave their accounts at that. There is a certain.. idk.. sign of life to genuine artists and their pages.

-talk much on their page I am not sure if their art is genuine or if it's AI.

Not asking for a whole ass brand but just... idk.. show some signs of life, that you have SOMETHING to say about your art beside the bare minimum. Or maybe post about non-art related things so I know you're not just-

People talk about the tells of AI art but I don't think anyone has talked about an adjacent issue: a lot of AI artists just post their art with very short descriptions or only tags and don't really talk on their pages, so when I encounter an artist who has an AI-adjacent art style and doesn't-
