You sent one sentence; the night shift fucker didn't show.

I called Jen when I saw your message.

[Nods] I did a half day and whole night shift on the bridge.

The night shift acting captain never showed up after telling me that he would be an hour late, and the night shift security manager never showed up either.

You look like you could use a second nap.

I'm going to put my boot up night shift's ass.

We also haven't seen her Uncle in over a week, and she's told me that she's been acting as a security manager in his absence.

She's planning to thoroughly search the ship with her K9, and will keep me posted.

Jen is eventually going to be in command one day.

She confiscated my pad and let me keep my communicator in case her father tries to reach me, and brought me a tray of mushroom kebabs.

I need something much stronger than both coffee and an energy drink this morning.

[Looks at her pad]

Why is this shuttle circling us but not hailing?

I'm exhausted and ready to leave my rank with my uniform on the floor at the foot of my bed and snuggle Gabe until my next shift.

[Looks at her pad and sets it down, groaning]

Ugh, not this fucking asshole again.

At my rank, there is only so much flagpole I could run this up.

I think I'll let Terran Gabe deal with this fucker that wants to torment me.

We've been requested to return to Earth because of how scared she is.

Looks like we get to explain a total lunar eclipse that's visible in my city this morning.

A young girl in the city I'm from back on Earth has written to us worried.

She said the moon appears to look like it's been nibbled on, and she's frightened that the Earth would be next.

When this overnight shift ends, I'll need you to guide me back to quarters.

I already feel like a Klingon has beaten me with a shovel and now passed it to a fucking Romulan.

I think there is a new square on the bingo.

There is a group of cadets singing Puff the Magic Dragon loudly, off key, and with grammar errors.

I will be laughing until I can't breathe if Gabe corrects them.

[Stretches at her desk, stands up slowly]

Maybe I'll go to the bridge. I'm getting stiff at my desk.

Though I'm sure everything is fine there, I just want to see Gabe.

If he gets annoyed for some reason, I'll visit Stamets and see how his latest grow is doing.

Did we fly through anything weird yesterday afternoon?

I felt a little off when I woke up. Maybe I need more caffeine, or sleep.

They should make him retire and Gabe should be promoted to Admiral.

How would you feel about going to Enterprise and taking command of the ship?

I've been told it's getting really stupid over there, and I know you can make them behave.

If I have to go to Enterprise, I'm taking Dr. Culber and everyone onboard is getting an evaluation.

Discovery will have to tow them to Starbase 5, and pending the results some will be removed from their posts.

I swear Pike is getting to a point where he can't handle much by himself anymore. I'm no longer a therapist, so that will be for someone else to figure out.

As for the Commander, just put them in air jail.

Jen does have her father's temper, and I admit the last time I heard her and Rayner argue it was very similar to his last argument with Gabe.

I'll have to watch him more closely, considering I occasionally hear him muttering "damn Lorca's".
