Hey.
Thereβs a coffee ring on my console. Itβs by a stack of records with sleeves that donβt match. Oneβs in the wrong jacket. Keep meaning to fix it.
Yeah...
Some nights feel better a little out of order. A little lived in.
Everything donβt gotta line up tonight.
Needleβs down.
Let it be.
Hey.
Power flickered in here about ten minutes ago. Board reset. A meterβs still acting funny. I almost called it a night.
Didnβt.
Sometimes you think you know how things are going, then something bumps the table and the needle jumps a song. The song ainβt ruined.
Just⦠rearranged.
After work, I usually do some personal sewing to wind down. Tonight I did something a little different -- a little kakapo painting! I think I'll keep doing little paintings, this was nice :)
Four black or black and white cats eating breakfast.
These crazy cats. All four are rescues. And of varying degrees of cuddly. Feeding time the zoo. ππββ¬
Supposed to be doing stuff. Moving out of house tomorrow. Am shut down. Cant. Too much. Going to bed. Will scroll 'til eyes get sleepy, hypnotic state. Cat will bounce in, wet through, about 2am. Partner of 7yrs snoring next door. Sated; that emptied bottle of vodka wedged in crevice behind his bed.
Empty chair in darkened room, with single muted spotlight on it.
It sounds different in our wee home at night since vodka became a guest here again. The house holds its breath. I hold my breath. There isnt enough room for three of us. The guest leaves it's presence everywhere; sluggish confusion, manic conversation - but at night it suffocates with expectancy.
If only my nan hadn't died in 2009 and had moved from Kimberley, Nottinghamshire, to Silicon Valley. I reckon her "move slow and repair things" motto would have worked out much better for everyone.
π
Love this opportunity; thank you.
How do you find courage to break the silence, after years of respecting and protecting?
How do you take the first step in that new journey?
How do you learn to thrive, after so long just barely surviving?
How do you take that feeling of being stuck in heightened alert and reset your nervous system so it can support you instead of killing you?
How do you finally move your focus back to making your own health the most important story?
This grew from my fingers tonight. I'm not sure where to release it, so leaving it to rest here for a bit.
I appreciate this. Is so beautiful here. Have found my 7yrs in Yorksha bit different though; its a vast county but feels... small? Wide open spaces but minds can be narrow like dark ancient ginnels. A mistrust of anything Other? Though mostly I'm not the Other they are talking about, apparently.
Three of the top five British grid electricity records smashed in 2025!
This is a huge success story, despite what Russian bots and U.S fossil fuel shills scream on X.
Every unit of clean domestic energy we produce means a safer future for our childrenβ¦π₯³
So of course I cannot sleep. And my elbows have gone 'floppy'. Sort of tingly and loose-limbedy in that soft inner bendy place. When my elbows go, it means Something is happening. That has been A Thing since childhood. Probably some response to chemical flash, dopamine or adrenaline? Off to google.
Best bit, realising there will be an upstairs. I've missed actual stairs. This wonderful space. Stairs are where some of the best conversations of my life have happened. Looking forward to new conversations on a long-awaited new staircase. Also creating a reading nook; calm, cosy.
I am viewing wee rental cottage in Selby (Yorkshire, UK) in morning. Obsessing about this place since before xmas. Have researched house, street, town like the ND-πΆ I am. π€¦π½ββοΈ Memorised each pic of every room. Heart is bit jits with Bigness of this; have lived with partner in tiny village for 7yrs.

2025 was a year of pure mischief for Simonβs Cat, from battling birds to braving the vet (again). Letβs rewind and relive the chaos in FULL COLOUR π www.youtube.com/watch?v=g0cN...
I saw a little wren in my garden today. First #sketch of 2026

I've decided to listen to one album a day, every day, for the entirety of 2026. I'm open to suggestions but I make no promises about listening to them

The monsters. Roxy, the 10yr old 3-legged rescue staffy and McLaren one of our tuxedo rescues. These two, inseparable since bringing this 4th mogg home 2yrs ago. π

Just turned 53. Not a single regret. Flickering moments of 'what if' with one partner, but absolutely no regret. My life is full and challenging. In fact, moved from 'no regret' to 'so glad I didnt'. Now, the who will care for or about me in 20yrs is a different thing, practically & financially. π
Yeah, we doing this? Anyhoo 8/10 here in LS25. That's halfway between Leeds and York. ππΌβοΈ #uksnow
Films I watched in 2025, what will hopefully be a very long thread: last yearβs here as I know itβs useful to be able to benchmark for my (lack of) taste accordingly.

Yup. Problem is, after 26 years in UK, New Zealand wants me back - my skills and experience will be of value so they'll be all "yeah, send those IRL peops back, babes, and we'll pop your English on a flight 'cos they're frying here anyway, bro". π
