How do brains make decisions and why does this matter for human health? @johnfoxe.bsky.social and I discuss this here on the latest episode of his "Neuroscience Perspectives" podcast. www.youtube.com/watch?v=-UeC...
Wanna better understand what society has gained from research? This website crowd-sources societal benefits that stem from US government-funded research publicusaresearchbenefits.com
I'm excited to be part of this new call for partners to work with us. Please apply!
My lab members and I were part of this collaboration and contributed many insertions to the brainwide map. It was exciting to be part of a 21-lab team working together to generate such extensive measurements during a visual decision-making task. All data is public so more discoveries will follow!
The federal government’s $1B dollar demand is designed for one purpose and one purpose only: to devastate @UCLA and its critical mission. #StandUpForUC to defend America’s greatest public university system and support this life-saving work. ucal.us/standupforuc
Saddened by this article about the US Brain Drain. Nice to see @ardemp.bskyverified.social speak in this issue. www.nytimes.com/2025/06/03/u...
Thanks for this great article!
The recent criticisms on scientific reproducibility hit home with me. I take reproducibility seriously and our recent study uncovered features of ephys studies that enhance it: elifesciences.org/articles/100.... Spoiler alert: standardized instrumentation, open source analysis tools & QC help.
Check out this video from Tom Charmichael, the Chair of Neurology here at UCLA. He explains indirect costs using his lab as an example. Feel free to share broadly! www.youtube.com/watch?v=QJYo...
Congrats!
This week was a lot. Today I’m gonna turn off all devices today and curl up with a book. Thanks to Xiao Jing Wang for spending the time to write this text. www.routledge.com/Theoretical-...
Looks like a great visit!
Looks really fun!
Oh I hope so!!!
It was such a great event!
Yeah I’m with you on this one!
Oh wow! Next time we will coordinate for sure.
Awesome! I’m there too!!!
I’m at #standupforscience at UCSD today- a great crowd!
Hope you are all hanging in there. Here’s our science update for today youtu.be/fLQTa-IgMcM?...
Here is our (unplanned) science update for today: how to access nih resources (e.g., era commons) if you are having trouble today: www.youtube.com/shorts/TCoK8...
There is a workaround for accessing era commons! See below and thanks @raphaelwimmer.bsky.social . You might have to google what is needed for your particular OS but this got us through.
Thanks Ilana
Here’s our update for today. We explain in more detail why it has been hard for outsiders (like us!) to understand what’s happening at NIH and also talk about the layoffs. Stay well folks. youtu.be/AYEfY5HbPqQ?...
Oof, that’s the truth. Do you feel like you have a platform for taking to folks about importance of basic research? I feel like you would have a huge impact! Or maybe you have already done this and I missed it. Apologies if so!
Awesome!
Hi everyone. Here’s our science update for today. Definitely some progress on NIH study sections but we have a loooong way to go. Also, find out how you can #standupforscience youtu.be/2CDInlMMhnE?...
