The vanity of those orchestrating emergencies is what I find most appalling. Imagine how strongly the illusion of control must be to imagine that you'll largely be unaffected, or that your condition may actually be improved by capitalizing upon other's suffering at scale.

I think that he simply didn't want his "hair done" & believed the hat was enough. No regard for the moment. Just a blip on the schedule...

Great band. Tim Booth made some solo albums as well that you'll enjoy, as well as a favorite of mine...

The collaboration w/Angelo Badalamenti. ("Booth and the Bad Angel")

More "escape" than "disappear". Not exactly an old-growth haven in Wyoming. Still though, something that I've always liked about it is the relative "openness" & seeming solitude.

Definitely a title contender.

The "anus" & "pain is" hook is upper echelon.

With respect, that’s the opposite of what Hasan attempted. Reading the article, you will hopefully see that he intended to draw upon the widespread familiarity with the horror of the Holocaust (among other genocides) to highlight the absence of empathy for those in Gaza.

Note the use of "he".

Read it again.

I made no comparison. I'm arguing that the journalist making the comparison was not necessarily antisemitic. Particularly when his inclusion of the Holocaust among others was to point out that the requisite horror of Gaza is seemingly missing.

28.02.2026 03:12 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 3 πŸ“Œ 1

Yes. Hasan admitted that his comparison of different genocides to highlight the perspective that makes Gaza "worse" in his mind was clumsy. If anything, the Holocaust was included to add strength to his position that the requisite and proper horror at the events in Gaza is missing.

Same street. That's just communication, which was my original point.

...but the case still has to be made.

28.02.2026 02:49 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

Exactly. Though we might feel strongly or absolutely believe in the correctness of our own understanding, unless we can receive & contemplate another's perspective, we do a disservice to ourselves in reflexively dismissing criticism. A principle is strengthened by being challenged.

I don't owe you an explanation. I've already clarified & you're clearly seeking to shift the context. Good evening.

I get it, believe me.

A lot of non sequiturs and leaps here. Critical thinking might suggest that all teachers aren't blessed with it. There's enough already written in the world to suggest that Gaza continues for reasons other than for which it began. Mehdi Hasan used the Holocaust to elicit self-reflection, that's all

28.02.2026 02:22 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 2 πŸ“Œ 0

Absolutely. Not a denier or apologist at all. I've known survivors, which is only to say, as I did before, that those people were always vigilant to hate, but never so quick to use antisemitism as a reflex. Gaza is now, and Israeli citizens should self-elect as to their government's current policies
