Thank you for the Clarification
Hi Craig,
Our paper on Modular surface codes (arxiv.org/abs/2503.04968 ) is stim circuits heavy. The following github repository contains the circuits and the code for generating/analyzing them.

I think we should be more open about making fun of people who do this stuff.
Excited to share Iβve officially passed my prelim oral examβnow a PhD candidate! π Huge thanks to advisor Leonid Pryadko, mentors & friends for all their support.
Also, thrilled our paper got accepted for a poster at #QEC25 at Yale this August. Canβt wait to see everyone there!
Can I take a minute to appreciate how good Gottesmanβs writing is.
40+ pages long and I am entertained. Some other folks give me a headache reading their abstract

Rotated surface code, one stitch at a time.
Fascinating!
Thank you for clarifying
What are you modeling here, curious
Just got the emailβIβll be TA-ing for the graduate course Electromagnetism C! Excited for the opportunity but feeling a bit nervous. Wish me luck!
βStabilizer measurements are like a self fulfilling prophecyβ
Preprint is out:

Did Microsoft place an advertisement for their quantum chip at DMV!
This timeline is so uncanny lol
My poster presentation at @qip2025.bsky.social
My first publication in quantum error correction. I will be sharing the link for arXiv preprint in few days.
A misleading slide shown at QIP2025.
The surface code number is 10x too high (should be 0.1% not 1%; see fig 1c of arxiv.org/abs/2408.13687) and the tesseract number omits the worst 18% of shots (see table III of arxiv.org/abs/2409.04628).
very obvious π
Circuits Galore! Check out our latest work demonstrating three new circuits for implementing the surface code: arxiv.org/abs/2412.14360 They all perform well below threshold on a device optimised for the standard surface code, but they each open up wild new possibilities for devices.
A tell for theory-vs-practice in quantum magic states is mentioning Ξ³.
In theory, Ξ³ dominates by determining how costs compound as stages are added. In practice we'll do MAYBE 1 stage of distillation past cultivation, enough to be more reliable than transistors, and then stop. Making Ξ³ irrelevant.
