15 years ago today I arrived on Downing Street in a cage.
I've seen off Cameron, May, Johnson, Truss and Sunak and I'm still going strong.
Only two Prime Ministers have ever done longer stints here: William Pitt the Younger and Sir Robert Walpole.
Bill and Bob - I'm coming for you...

That’s so frustrating.
I don’t think it really needs to be a same day appointment, but there doesn’t seem to be another option at this point. The GP secretary did tell me the same day appointments are routine πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

I need to make an appointment with a GP. Every time I’ve phoned recently they haven’t got any advance appointments available so the only option is to phone at 8am to try & get a same-day appointment. That is… not ideal when one of my main symptoms is fatigue… πŸ€·β€β™€οΈπŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ

No, Asexuality isn’t a result of SSRI’s.

That’s an insult to Asexual people, and totally ignorant of one of the (rare) side effects of SSRI’s.

Lack of libido is not the same as being Asexual.

However, British Psychological Society guidance on gender, sexuality & relationship diversity (2024) includes β€œpeople who identify as asexual” & says β€œthe identities and practices considered here are not in themselves pathological and are part of human diversity”

I mean, there are 2 conditions in the DSM-5 (psychiatry/psychology diagnosis β€˜bible’) that basically describe asexuality. Both have a criterion that it causes β€œclinically significant distress in the individual”. 1/

Should it say Echinacea?

Erm, does this colleague like you? β€œContains… euthanasia”!?!? 😳

Oh no! This weather can be so dangerous.
Do you live near enough to visit her?
I hope she gets the treatment she needs and is able to recover quickly.

Oh I feel this! I felt the same way before I went for a run yesterday.
I hope you manage to go, even if it’s just for one length, and that you feel better afterwards.

Glad you managed to speak to them. Fingers crossed they are able to get to you quickly & sort the problem.

I’ve been given permission to open the Christmas food. It’s officially Christmas!!!

Merry Christmas all.
I hope it goes as well as it can for you.

As many of us begin Christmas meal prep, allow me to share the advice that my ER nurse sister puts in the chat every year:

A dropped knife has no handle. Jump away. Let it fall. You can pick it up and wash it.

A Robin perches proudly on a snow-dusted wooden post, its bright orange-red breast glowing like a beacon of warmth against the frosty, pale winter backdrop. With its feathers fluffed against the cold and beak open in song, this little garden friend perfectly captures the timeless winter cheer of Robins on #NationalRobinDay.

Uh oh… I’ve got a sore throat.
I think someone’s given me a cold (or that nasty bug that’s been going round…) just in time for Christmas πŸ™

Asexuality is a spectrum that answered a lifetime of questions Asexuality is a spectrum, and all of us who fall somewhere on that spectrum have different relationships with sex and sexual attraction

β€œI was eighteen years old, and filled with the alarming feeling that there was something very wrong with me.”

Disclaimer: I haven’t looked into inheritance tax rules in detail.
My only issue with this would be if some groups are treated differently than other groups.
Dr Amy Blackstone makes some valid points on this (in relation to US inheritance rules) in her book β€˜childfree by choice’.

I read about low take up rates earlier in the year too, I think it was in The Times. If memory serves, they put it down to people not wanting the vaccine, but I wonder whether it is (at least partially) related to the pragmatics of getting it. People are so busy it’s hard to find the time to get it.

I work for the NHS & get offered the flu jab free every year. I assume someone somewhere has done the calculations & worked out that the lost productivity/sick pay for missing even just one day of work is less than the cost of the jab (probably less than Β£25 if bought in bulk).

Wow! How incredibly brave. Not just to tackle the shooter, but to then take the gun himself & point it at the shooter. I was so worried there would be a miscommunication somewhere & Mr Ahmed would be shot at & hurt by police.

So… how would this work if I go out to eat with a male companion when I’ve done a marathon that day & he hasn’t? Pretty sure my energy needs on that day would be WAY higher than his…

I’m watching Home Alone.
While the original is great, I’d love to see a remake/updated version set in a β€˜smart home’ with lots of wireless devices.
