Unsurprisingly, Trump's immigration crackdown is still not delivering labor market improvements for the US-born
Over the last year, native-born unemployment is up from 4.3% to 4.7% while native-born employment has decreased
ICE has arrested and detained a Nashville journalist who reported stories critical of ICE. Sheβs married to a U.S. citizen and has been seeking asylum here after fleeing death threats in Colombia because of her journalism there.
Theyβve already sent her to Louisiana.
The reason we have βstupid rules of engagementβ is to make sure we donβt bomb elementary schools.
A New York Times investigation indicates that it was a US strike on an Iranian school that killed 175 people, mostly children.

Hey @chicagotribune.com, might want to check your 9th grade civics textbook, because Presidents donβt βinstallβ cabinet members, they nominate them.

Russia is one of the biggest winners early in the largest U.S. military confrontation in decades, as Iranian missiles deplete stocks of Patriot interceptors that Ukraine needs-WSJ
Good piece. Besides issues (like state policy) discussed in piece, some other key differences:
1) Antiblack racism bigger historical factor in Atlanta;
2) county fragmentation. 29 counties (ATL MSA) vs. 3 (Seattle MSA)
King County >50% of metro population

So much institutional failure in the last 14 months, and one of them is bar associations...
So many disbarments should have happened by now -- so, so many. (And if you tell me "it doesn't work like that" that sort of makes the point.)
JFC, even his jokes are weak...
"In Kristi Noem's time fleecing the American people with her derelict of leadership at DHS, Chicago has withstood targeted attacks by DHS and the federal agents under its purview who have incited chaos in our communities with their violence and callous disregard for our residents' most basic human rights. Instead of seeking collaboration, Noem weaponized fear to undermine trust between communities and local law enforcement who work every day to keep our communities safe. Her tenure will be remembered by her brazen corruption, the reckless exploitation of vulnerable families to advance a far-right agenda, and willingness to put the President's interests over those of the American people. She will not be missed in Chicago."

One of Atlanta Mayor Dickensβ favorite lobbyists lauds Dickens for not irritating Trump (& Kemp).
His prime example of appealing to conservatives? Pushing through CopCity, a project for which Dickens killed a referendum, despite well over 100,000 signatures.

Well deserved. Excellent book.
* 2/2...also, note, Seattle known for its (relatively) strong bus system; Atlanta is...not so much. Good bus systems build support for (and trust in) transit overall, including rail.

*Kim for comptroller (against Croke who is crypto booster), not treasurer.
Yep. Not back in IL long enough to keep the two separate.
*comptroller not treasurer, always mix those up.
Yes, but a problem here though is that there is a second chance to appeal through a βBoard of Reviewβ and they can push back down appraised values for big buildings. Need to get reformers elected there as well. (And the firms who do appeals are politically connected ofc.)
Chicago elected a reformer to head Property Tax Assessment and he roughly doubled trophy office & hotel valuation to fair market.
Fulton #GApol could do the same, if we elect reforming County Commissioners in May's primaries.
That's what economic justice looks like.
2/2β¦ so vote Kim for Illinois state treasurer and @fritzforassessor.bsky.social for Cook County assessor.
Love to have a local Democratic Party (Cook County) that endorses a crypto-booster for state treasurer and the scion of an old machine family for tax assessor over the progressive incumbent who has ruffled the feathers of corporate owners by trying to reform the appeals system that favors them. 1/2
Oh no.
We did the math.
