I have mostly been able to keep that oh-shit-the-nuclear-codes moment at bay for the last 14 or so months, but now it's become a daily thing. Probably for millions of people besides us.

When we go to Japan, we sometimes go to our hotel onsens (public bathing facilities, gender-segregated) at night, and a big part of the experience is using all the wonderful skin and hair products the onsens provide. LOTS of blow-drying going on (much more than I have the patience for).

I got a sweet email from someone who picked up one of my novels from a little library box, and enjoyed it enough to write and tell me. The book is out of print, but the feeling of connecting with a reader is a tiny spark of happiness.

The next Democratic president needs to be prepared to do this immediately in re: every single one of Trump's executive orders since January 20, 2025.
