Fortunate to live near the Capital Theater & see the Toy Factory Project. Amazing how well the Marshall Tucker Band’s music has aged. It has a kind of expensiveness, improvisational groove, and flexibility of genre akin to the Allman Brothers or the Grateful Dead. Don’t miss this!

An extraordinary album that only 1970 could produce. Not quite jazz, not prog rock, not space rock, not electronic music, this unique album sounds like the musical version of a Philip Johnson house. I would put it in a time capsule to represent earth #music from the 20th century. #jazzsky #modernism

EJI Remembers Civil Rights Foot Soldier Jo Ann Bland Courageous civil rights activist Jo Ann Bland passed yesterday at 72.

So blessed to have known and spent time with this tough, fierce fighter for justice. So sad to hear of her death only months after her sister, also a Civil Rights activist! #justice #civilrights

If I remember right, my godmother gave me the 67-70 album for my 5th birthday. My first Beatles album at age 5 got played probably 1000s of times.

'God does not need papers': Cardinals spend Ash Wednesday with ICE detainees, their families Cardinal Blase Cupich led a Mass in Chicago, which was attended by relatives of those who have been detained or deported. Cardinal Joseph Tobin celebrated Masses inside an ICE detention center in Newa...

"More than 3,000 people attended the Mass and walked in the procession.

"Families affected by immigration enforcement were among the first to receive ashes from Cupich, in a highly symbolic reversal of the marking and tracking many say defines their daily lives."

How about Love? Two black members of the band, including the lead man Arthur Lee. If β€œ7 and 7 Is” is one of the first punk songs, I don’t know what is!

The Miles Davis Quintet at that moment in history was fire πŸ”₯. The days are numbered for acoustic jazz for Miles!

Loved this! Thanks. My first instinct is rarely to go for the Bruce/early Vince era but you are right to highlight much excellent music in the immediate post-Brent era.

I think Jerry knew that and felt it. Hence the sorrow and anger in the singing and playing that creates that intensity and sublimity.

Yes, though I think it’s intentionally vague enough that it can be about any inhumane context, β€œman’s inhumanity to man” and the temptation of indifference, ie not walking out to witness injustice whether nuclear devastation, the Vietnam war, or violence in the streets of Birmingham or Minneapolis.

β€œMorning Dew” by the Grateful Dead is the most sublime piece of music ever performed! #gratefuldead #Deadhead
