While imperfect, we need multilateralism
The UN is in urgent need of reform, but it is the only existing global, rules-based, intergovernmental system providing a platform for cooperation on challenges like:
- peacekeeping
- conflict prevention
- human rights protection
- humanitarian response
- climate action
Feminists call on Member States to:
1. Pay their legal financial obligations.
2. Prevent institutional collapse.
3. Put pressure on the U.S. and other Member States to pay their dues.
600+ organizations and individuals from 89 countries have signed this joint feminist statement by Women's Major Group, which calls on UN Member States to:
1οΈβ£ Pay their legal financial obligations.
2οΈβ£ Prevent institutional collapse.
3οΈβ£ Put pressure on the U.S. and other Member States to pay their dues.

UN FACES IMMINENT FINANCIAL COLLAPSE βΒ Member States must pay up. Sign on!
Core UN operations could be disrupted by mid-2026:
1. Under-funding is a political tool. Member States are using deliberate non-payment as leverage against global governance, democracy, and human rights.
2. More than 95% of what is owed to the UNβs regular budget is owed by the United States.
3. Only 55 of 193 Member States have paid their assessed contributions
in full.
A weakened UN threatens feminist gains and undermines systems that people rely on for protection, accountability, and global cooperation. The erosion of multilateral institutions deepens insecurity and shifts risks and costs onto people.
π¨ Feminist civil society is raising the alarm about the imminent financial collapse of the United Nations.
A weakened UN threatens feminist gains, multilateralism, democracy, and human rights amid escalating global crises.

Endorse the Rabat Declaration for feminist Economic and Environmental Transformation: rabat.wedo.org
Rabat Declaration for Feminist Economic and Environmental Transformation β
The peoples of the Global South, women and marginalized groups in particular, are facing profound crises rooted in the economic and political domination of patriarchal, imperialist, colonial capitalism.
We, activists from the Middle East, North Africa, and the Global South, declare our commitment to a radical transformation of the global system grounded in economic, social, and environmental justice, and guided by a democratic feminist vision that centers women and gender-diverse people.
Our Demands:
1. Global South sovereignty and alternative economies rooted in gender justice and equality
2. Break the shackles of debt and financial imperialism
3. Redistribute wealth and finance social services through fair taxation
4. Climate justice through grantsβNo Green Colonialism!
5. Demilitarization and liberation, in Palestine, Sudan, Yemen and everywhere
6. Respect the rights of migrants, refugees, and displaced people
We urge all progressive, democratic forces and peoples to unite in this global struggle to shape a world rooted in justice and sustainability β liberated from all forms of domination, exploitation, and colonial control.
