If I were a local reporter, I'd drive up 64 to Afton, get off, & go down to Rte 6, get out of my car in that large gravelled area, and do some on-the-scene reporting, but you do you & keep showing us the Highway Camera view.
There are press releases that need to be turned into stories, after all!

Tried to use new camera app on my phone to take a picture. Despite the so-called simplied UI, it would not take a picture. It did change the click icon, though.
Thus, the internet is bereft of the ridiculously great shamrock soda I got. Also, no picture of the many smoke plumes and roadside fire.

When we drove up 250 at 11:10 we spotted multiple fire smoke plumes on the mountain. Just before Lang's, there was fire crackling on the side of the road. A fire truck was parked about 50 feet up the road. (We also spotted fire trucks at the old motel - owned by the same folks as the cracklin' lot)

And here I thought the Water Street garage had reached peak creepiness already, but I underestimated the inherent creepiness in AI. I canβt wait for it to catalog the way dudes linger and follow single women in that garage as normal, maybe aspirational, behavior

If I were to put up a sign designed to look like an official prohibition, Iβd have the courtesy to not block another official road sign by placing it 3 feet in front of said road sign. Makes me a little less sympathetic to your cause.

It boggles the mind they didn't test the glass surface for playability, too. Honestly, I'm kinda surprised the Big 12 got hoist by this petard, not the ACC.

This is your annual complaint about the design of the ACC Women's general graphic design (court, logo, artifacts). It's not the worst they've ever rolled out, but it does hit that sweet spot between boring and ick. This is still not the 1980s.
(Props to Coach McGraw's necklace yesterday, tho!)

IF I saw a sign that said "<-- Deliveries", I wouldn't consistently go --> of that sign & leave the package at a side door that doesn't look like it's been opened ever, & then when I left by driving my vehicle "<--" around the loop by the EASY PLACES to leave a package, I'd remember it next time.

And don't get me started on mops! I bought her an O-Cedar spray mop. Took me a day (not in instructions) to figure out that the sprayer has a screw tightly screwed in & the only screwdriver that fits is an eyeglasses screwdriver which is not wide enough to turn the screw & make it able to spray.

As my mother's technology czar, I have done a lot of shopping for things to make her life easier, and I am constantly frustrated at the lack of insight and bad assumptions these manufacturers make. We have the technology to give me what she wants, but they keep missing.

The university administration has not enveloped themselves in smartness lo these last few years, so I'm very surprised they didn't just go for the Department of Information.

The normally sedate alumni listserv has come alive with pointed librarianly questions and comments after today's announcement of the department name change. The powers that be saw this coming and did not care because they have not learned that libraries still matter and librarians are important.

Too bad, birds!
You'll have to keep eating the seed off the icy surface where the blasted squirrels have scattered ALL of the good stuff.

My poor mother: everytime we see Eteri on the screen, she has to sit through a similar rant from yours truly. She's lucky I haven't started in on the ISU.
She also doesn't appreciate my lecture on Cross Country versus Biathlon, and my conspiracy theory that the snow has an anti-Finland bias.

Well, the data is still stored in individual county/city databases, and the quality is as good as it is input. It's the citizen access to data that varies on the underlying software. Albemarle is harder to search. Cville makes toggling between neighboring properties less easy than the others, etc.

I think there are 3-5 different companies designing applications for communities to use for their GIS data, and there aren't any real standards for how to present it. Because they are selling to local governments not people, the user experience gets overlooked by most companies.

Charlottesville has a different, easier to use UI for GIS data. Less data, but fewer headaches.
Waynesboro's is also different from Albemarle and Charlottesville.
