Spot on.
The UK fired their ambassador to the US over his friendship with Jeffrey Epstein.
Meanwhile, Epstein’s best friend remains the President of the United States.
Single frame. Dystopic wasteland, with a few ghostly figures, smoke rising from rubble. Title: un - recognise - able
What’s left?
My @smh @theage cartoon.

“Australian university students are still paying some of the highest fees in the OECD under a system that punishes them for choosing the ‘wrong’ degree. That system has a name – the Job-ready Graduates package – and Labor has left it virtually untouched.” http://satpa.pe/lPPBqJD
Should have been higher
Story in The Australian Super tax ‘the last straw’ for this cattle farmer Helen Trinca Craig Huf, a farmer from Burringbar in far north NSW, will pull one of his farms out of super because of the tax on unrealised capital gains Cattle farmer Craig Huf says the federal government’s proposed superannuation tax will likely be the “straw that breaks the camel’s back” forcing him to pull his $3m farm out of his self-managed super fund.
Good!!! A farm is NOT MEANT TO BE IN YOUR SUPER!!!
The ONLY reason anyone would put a farm in their super IS TO AVOID PAYING TAX!!
Tomorrow marks two years since the release of the parliamentary gambling report chaired by the late Peta Murphy. Despite strong public support, Fed Govt has failed to even respond to the report. For those harmed by gambling, this is a shocking betrayal #auspol #politas
"Netanyahu said the new attacks were a chance to bring lasting peace to countries that, while already peaceful, could potentially pose a threat in the future.

Before committing to any increase in defence spending, we need to make sure we are spending on the right things. The world is changing and we need to review whether AUKUS is our best bet. #auspol
“People have seen the headlines, watched the news of whistleblowers walking into court, and are outraged at the price they face for speaking up.”
Excellent points from Kieran Pender on whistleblowing

Perhaps I have become a curmudgeon but I would very much like anyone in a position of responsibility who clearly hasn’t thought things through to receive a small electric shock each time they continue to demonstrate they haven’t thought things through.
Do it #Labor!

Ok ALP seriously no excuses now.
Wondering what it would mean for the Coalition to break up? We were too. Political Scientist Linda Botterill from ANU wrote this for us just after the election. theconversation.com/while-the-li...

Andrew Leigh & I had a long but very civil argument about public funding of private schools many years ago. He didn’t get it then. I hope he does now, because nothing cements generational inequality like unfair education. www.theguardian.com/australia-ne...
How it works Let’s say, for example, an individual’s super account grew from $3.5 million to $4 million during 2025/26. They did not put any contributions in or take any money out during the year – the whole $500,000 increase came from growth (or income) from the super fund’s investments. The Division 296 tax bill for 2025/26 will be $18,750 (in addition to any tax paid by the fund itself). Ouch.
The AFR's attack on the changes to how super will be taxed is glorious. In this example, they cite someone going from a super balance of $3.5m to $4m.
And having to pay $18,750 (3.75%) in tax on that $500,000. "Ouch"
They also make it clear the person did NOTHING to earn an extra $500,000
I’m a little surprised by this. Greens, NGOs and thinktanks “calling” on Labor to “go further” happens every election like clockwork but I didn’t expect Labor voters to (just) feel the same.
🗂️ Today’s Essential Report
Dutton took on the coalition leadership when they were in a pretty bad state. He turned it around and today they are absolutely fucken rooted. What a legacy.
Drive it like you stole it, stop fucking around, deal with climate change, poverty, and deal with inequality to pay for it. Deal with industry transition, deal with education costs, accept that large investments in ourselves today pay for more than themselves in the future. And dental in Medicare
This is how my views compare with the election candidates in the upcoming Australian election according to @VoteCompass. Try it for yourself! #AusPol #AusVotes

It keeps being reported that the ACCC Inquiry into Supermarkets found no evidence of price gouging going on.
But the reason it didn't find any was because IT WAS NOT EXAMINING IF THERE WAS ANY PRICE GOUGING GOING ON!!!
