I've been composing music, and I finally have a setup and it's free:
- Cakewalk Next (to compose)
- Sonuscore Orchestra Elements (for the instrument sounds to play)
- Kontakt Player (to have those sounds work)
- FreePiano (to play notes)
- loopMIDI (to have Cakewalk pick up the notes played)

Yeah, the story here is the NYT itself and its role as an active enabler of the American regime and its crimes against humanity, rather than an observer.

It's wild to me that if three people were incarcerated, there would be 2 million more people alive/uninjured today.
Three people.

I've already watched a video of the moment a hundred real people were killed.
I cannot stomach a video of some guy having his arm broken.

The Internet seems to say Al Mouna and Ottawa Shawarma - neither of which I've tried.
There's votes for Shawarma King - I do love their wraps but not their platters - and Mr. Fez which I quite enjoyed.

I've just found that I've been increasingly disappointed with what I get out of the Rideau location. It's still decent, just not great. The one on Bank has been consistently mediocre.
r/ottawa seem to have similar feels as well.

What's the best shawarma in Ottawa now that Shawarma Palace isn't hitting the same?
Is it Al Mouna? What's your top pick?

It still astounds me the extent to which they meddle to kill booming sectors to artificially prop up ones that died for the psychological comfort of an elderly angry man.
It's throwing away prosperity for millions of gen alpha and z so boomers can make believe it's still the 1950s.

Documenting 25 Years Of Media Fearmongering On Iranian Nukes
Canadian media has warned Iran is weeks, months or years away from obtaining nukes for at least a quarter century.
NEW: Canadaβs media class have been claiming Iran is weeks, months or a few years away from obtaining nukes for at least 25 years.
@davide.readthemaple.com provides a timeline of these claims, which are frequently used to justify war and/or sanctions on Iran. www.readthemaple.com/documenting-...

Almost like shutting down safe consumption sites and funneling money away from harm reduction and into abstinence grifting makes things less safe and increases harms. This is consistent with decades of data and was completely predictable.

What's scary about this story is the surveillance it hints at. This trans woman had changed her name, legally, but chose not to change her gender marker. She was apparently flagged in the DMV system as trans and her license was invalidated under a law that supposedly only concerned gender markers.

"After we broke up, I knew I'd morphed into a person he didn't really know, and it would be baffling for him to speak to a stranger through the face of the girl he'd lived with for years." - one of my favourite lines in "Is This A Cry For Help?" by Emily Austin

It won't be utopia, but it'll be set in a system that makes ours look as dated as feudalism.
A criticism of our present that uses optimism and hope rather than the despair of dystopia.

My next story, I think will be set in a future where things go right.
Where there's cozy spaces everywhere for the public to spend time in that isn't gated by a fee or hours or operation.
Where everyone has comfortable shelter, unrestricted medical care, and all the food they want to eat.
