I have this "corner of hate" in my library to help keep me grounded at a time when these hateful talking points are being laundered by major publishers - Spotify, The New York Times, The Atlantic, etc.
Almost every anti-trans talking point is a rebrand of anti-gay talking points. The groomer epithet, transing the kids, targeting libraries, etc.

Almost like shutting down safe consumption sites and funneling money away from harm reduction and into abstinence grifting makes things less safe and increases harms. This is consistent with decades of data and was completely predictable.
What's scary about this story is the surveillance it hints at. This trans woman had changed her name, legally, but chose not to change her gender marker. She was apparently flagged in the DMV system as trans and her license was invalidated under a law that supposedly only concerned gender markers.

It won't be utopia, but it'll be set in a system that makes ours look as dated as feudalism.
A criticism of our present that uses optimism and hope rather than the despair of dystopia.
My next story, I think will be set in a future where things go right.
Where there's cozy spaces everywhere for the public to spend time in that isn't gated by a fee or hours or operation.
Where everyone has comfortable shelter, unrestricted medical care, and all the food they want to eat.
Killing people based on what a fancy autocomplete spits out is insane.
