Do you get to pick the book next to your picture? What happens if, not saying this is the case here, the one next to your portrait isnβt the one you want to be there?

Sorry I'm not more open-minded about LLMs, it's just some fucking maniacs shoveled out a bunch of useless bloatware featuring that technology, did not give me any chance to opt out, reorganized the entire economy around it, zeroed out gains made by green energy, and made it impossible to buy RAM
Apples ability (inability) to recognize color demand never ceases to amaze me. First trillion dollar company btw (derogatory) lmao
Thank you so much for the clarification! Itβs nice to see that the backbone here is still in understanding. Iβm always concerned when going into new programs or getting new resources that itβs all AI with no emphasis on learning what itβs doing.
I feel like this is not how the future should be. Part of learning something is doing it, so is this an advert for learning AI or learning Python and Pandas? Because if the latter, I donβt know how you build skills by outsourcing the thought development
[Scene is a kitchen - a middle aged woman called JANET is boiling peas at the stove. A younger more colourfully dressed woman named LIZ approached her.] JANET: Ugh... LIZ: What's up? JANET: I am so bored of cooking peas! LIZ: Have you tried... AI peas? JANET: AI peas? LIZ: They're peas with AI! [Liz holds up to us a packet of peas labelled: Pea-i AI - Peas with AI]. LIZ: Al-powered peas harness the potential of your peas JANET: What LIZ [Now a voiceover as we cut to a whizzy technology diagram of peas all connected by meaningless dotted lines] Why not take your peas to the next level with Al Peas' new Al tools to power your peas? [Show a techno diagram of a pea with a label reading 'AI' pointing to a random zone in it] LIZ: Each pea has Al in a way we haven't quite worked out yet but it's fine [Show Janet and Liz now in a Matrix-style world of peas] LIZ: With Al peas you can supercharge productivity and make AI work for your peas! JANET: What LIZ: Shut up LIZ: Our game-changing Pea-Al gives you the freedom to unlock the potential of the power of the future of your peas workflow From opening the bag of peas to boiling the peas to eating the peas To spending millions on adding Al to the peas and then having to work out what that even means. JANET: Is it really necessary to- LIZ [Grabbing Janet by the collar]: THE PEAS HAVE GOT AI, JANET [Cut to an advert ending screen, with the bag of peas and the slogan: AI PEAS: Just 'Peas' for god's sake buy the AI peas. [Ends]

It's feasible to lock the doors + overheat the battery too. It's all controlled by microcontrollers.
But driving you into a brick wall because you called out the genocide in Gaza is easier and more effective.
If you could read something again for the first time, what would you choose?
Itβs 2026, so I am legally obligated to write a blog post about AI.
βI am a programmer. Just like Iβm a father and a husband and a son and a friend. Itβs not something I do, itβs something that is fundamental to the core of my being. Like overly dramatic phrasing.β

Really really loving The Terraformers by Annalee Newitz. World building is top tier, pun intended, and the overall theme is perfectly in the medium that makes me want to write as well $iFaWr
news: today capitalist AI did something fucking terrible, just like yesterday
some lefties: what the fuck, this capitalist bullshit sucks
AI pushers: can't believe the left hates technology
Sorry to get radical but I donβt think itβs my job or yours to embrace, accept, understand - and certainly not to use - the thing being sold to us as AI. I donβt like any part of it, so I wonβt. Iβm missing out? Good, thatβs what I want. Youβre worried about me missing out? Thatβs fuckin weird, man.

Actually yes, the only allure AI has on me is I can reliably search and get sources without navigating ads

You absolutely love to see it
Itβs really cool to see what the black sky team are doing here; especially with the emphasis on building and maintaining a community. I wonder if there can be integration with off grid comms to keep communities together during emergencies
This is a start of great things!

If I see you use this word, I'll block you. If you use it "satirically" I'll block you. Using it at all today is a really fine test of character.
I've had some of my books edited because I used it twenty years ago and I'm ashamed today of having used it.

Something I think would be a cool feature for bsky is the addition of timestamps similar to discord that show a time that is for the local user. Not sure how to implement it, but would be neat to abridge the world together
Thanks Jeff! Appreciate the insight!!
Speaking as someone starting and interested in hosting my own static site is it still feasible for me to do it? Or should I host through GitHub or Cloudflare?
