so basically that's a crap phrasing. what it should say is [sc into first stitch, 2 sc into next] repeat until six stitches filled, slip stitch together to close ignoring the extra stitch from the first line. the math does math if you draw it out on paper first.

bulkier yarn and larger hook would apply to the whole bunny.

from there follow her directions as is.

a modification I can think of to be more approachable is to use foundation crochet instead of a single crochet in place of the slip stitch. to do this you would at the end of six stitches chain one and twist it to make the free floating foundation single crochet. then slip stitch this together.

to do it her way she's saying pick up six stitches from the head zone then single crochet for one stitch (wrap hook twice before slip stitching together through both loops). to continue the ear ignore the extra crochet stitch in subsequent round. from this point just keep using normal slip stitch.

Okay I have tried it a couple times the way she wrote it and find it too tight to achieve it this way. I would recommend making the ear portion separate from the head and then use the tails to weave/sew them on. or if you really want to do it her way use bulkier yarn and a larger hook.

This makes way more sense than a health data system developed within the last 10-15 years.

I think I understand what they're doing with this...I'll try working it up this weekend and see if I'm on the right track.
