I held off killing my @washingtonpost.com subscription for a year to support the journalists, hoping that they could right the ship. Then, they were all gone and articles shifted their tone and began using dog whistle phrasing. Haven’t looked back.

Related, after supporting DC United since first moving to DC in ‘97, my family and I considered an off-season trade. Just about all of the Eastern teams have marks against them, with the Union coming out as the top contender. We expect to be free agents after the 2026 season if things don’t around.

I’ve complained about this in past years and while the journalists usually respond positively and correct their pieces, the behavior persists and demonstrates a systemic disregard for how the narrative further marginalizes our Caribbean citizens. Editors need to do better.

Folks across the US unhappy about the Federal intervention in DC can help by pushing for statehood. The vulnerability that is being exploited is the lack of representative control. The mitigation is handing the power to the citizens and their elected officials as the proper check on Federal action.
It's likely underreported bc white-collar workers often avoid filing for unemployment until it's necessary. We're stumbling into a silent economic bubble where the market is flooded with talent, supply only declines, and previously well-off, now over-leveraged, workers will be losing their shirts.

The key is to understand what an LLM does - predicts what should come next. You want to do everything you can to guide that prediction, but not so much as to overly constrain the result. And then verify, validate, and accept.
