Still controlling for gender without thinking about why? You can cite me💚👩🔬💚
I show that the gender gap in progressive climate and environmental views is a persistent empirical regularity that cannot be explained by differences in socioeconomic background, political ideology, or risk aversion.
Wow, thank you Caterina! It is an honor to have published this in the EJPR 🙏
Timely publication by brilliant @asheinze.bsky.social and @gefjonoff.bsky.social to understand the current wave of far-right politics. Proud to see this important piece featured in @ejprjournal.bsky.social

We usually think that social identities precede preferences
We show the reverse is also true: people update their social identities to match their immigration preferences
Focus: class identity in 🇬🇧 + Christian identity in 🇮🇹

Interestingly, employment-related variables do not predict men's threat perceptions. Based on our findings, I think some women generally fear big (social) changes, while men's threat perceptions seem to be more political and associated with conservative/authoritarian attitudes.
Yes, there are some gender differences in what predicts these threat perceptions. For example, for women, demographics (younger age, religion) matter more than for men. For men, education matters more than for women (see Table 3).
Thank you so much for this collaboration - I learned a lot from you! 🤗
It has been great to navigate this paper with amazing @gefjonoff.bsky.social . Started expecting angry right-wing men to feel threatened by feminism and found out more than one surprise 👇

4) Men’s and women’s perceptions of feminism as threatening are associated with different political profiles: Men who feel threatened by feminism tend to sympathize with the far right, while women who feel threatened by feminism do not have a particular political profile.
1) Psychological predispositions to feel threatened are among the most important predictors of perceptions of feminism as a threat.
2) Women feel similarly threatened by feminism as men.
3) This is driven by women’s generally higher predisposition to feel threatened.
