Thanks to Prof. Becky Dorsey from Oregon University, Prof. @sergio_longhitano from @uni_basilicata and Prof. D. Chiarella from @unibo for having contacted and involved me in this interesting collaboration; I am still learning so many things about this area.
Work in progress with a preparation of a new paper aimed to gain more knowledge about the southern Calabria, an area very close to the #MessinaStrait, one of the most tectonically active regions within the #Mediterranean realm.
...pre-PhD, in our @birkbeckuol dept on tectonic geomorphology topics.
I am really happy that we have been able to publish it, after a long and hard work.
Many thanks to all the co-authors that have helped in developing and improving the paper.
Perfect timing for a Christmas present.
I thank @ciko_geo for his tenacity and patience as the lead author of this paper. We got the first embryonic idea of this paper when I was a PhD student in #London and he was developing a research placement...
π¨New paper!
The second paper from @myfaultmanu.bsky.social's PhD thesis investigates the active tectonic deformation across the Western Anatolian Extensional Province in TΓΌrkiye using Sentinel-1 derived InSAR velocities.βοΈπ§ͺπͺ¨π°οΈ

If you will be attending @theAGU conference 2024 and are interested on the tectonics of the #MessinaStrait and #SouthernCalabria, you would like to talk with Prof. Dorsey from @uoregon.bsky.social who will present new ideas for this area.

Two maps from the published paper showing the geometry of the Yangsan active fault in S Korea
Korean colleagues + Yann Klinger from our #IPGP #Tectonics team have published a paper on the active Yangsan Fault in SW #Korea. They use zircon ages to identify drainage reversal and geomorphological changes. βοΈ

Love to see this.
When I lived in west London* and worked in the library quite a bit, the staff and security were always super-shitty to homeless people who came in to read the papers and keep warmβ¦
And before northerners say, βthis is a London thingββ¦no, itβs really, really notβ¦
I noticed that many more seismologists, #earthquake geologists and people who post about eqs arrived in the last few weeks. If you're not in our starter pack yet and want to be featured, please give me a sign! I'll add you ASAP. Same goes if you want to be removed from it. βοΈπ§ͺ

Hi All. Coming from Twitter or X, I am really happy to be here with a lot of new and old friends. I am sharing a few of the last works I have been doing this year.
Stay tuned for new works already submitted.
Hi. Great idea. Could I be added please?
Interested in intraplate tectonics?
We propose a session on #earthquake faults and deformation in SE Europe at @EGU General Assembly meetingorganizer.copernicus.org/EGU25/sessio....
Abstract submission: deadline 15/01. Opportunities of travel support: deadline 02/12
Nearly there for the submission. Great job done by Andrea on the characterization of these submarine palaeoshorelines mapped in the Marzamemi offshore, SE Sicily. Let's hope for a fair and constructive review, something that Andrea deserves after all her efforts.
It is finally online the paper brilliantly led by my friend @GeoJenni (Dr. Jenni Robertson) where we study the #QuaternaryUplift in SW #Crete, the area of 365 AD #CreteEarthquake (M 8.5).

Holiday time in Western #Sicily.
Paper draft is nearly completed. Time to have a summer break. See you in Sept for submission!

If you use geodetic measurements to calculate crustal deformation rate, this new paper, developed with a few colleagues from UniBologna and INGVBologna, may be useful for your scientific research.
Introducing myself in the Blue Sky - I'm Paula, I'm a geologist who loves earthquakes and digging them up. I'm a researcher in Active Tectonics, and I like studying earthquakes, and deformed landscapes, especially if they have marine terraces (old surfer habits never die). Portuguese native!
